XY70 'Conclusion! Goodra, Somewhere Over the Rainbow!!'

I was really disappointed in the release of Goodra. :\ Ash had him for such a short time. It almost feels like Goodra was a temporary companion character (like Korrina) than a caught Pokémon. That said, he did get a nice character arc and a good amount of attention given to him. The Goodra line is my favourite of the 6th generation, so it was nice to see it focused on... just sad to see it go so soon.

At least Goodra got that Gym win in for Ash. *sigh*

The next episode with Bonnie and Meowth looks cute. I don't care too much for Bonnie as a character, but I do love some Meowth antics. It's certainly not the first time we've seen an episode focused on one of Ash's friends forced to work together with someone from Team Rocket (in fact, the premise of this episode reminds me a lot of EP104 "Bound For Trouble" from the first season), but it should be some good, light-hearted fun to counteract the seriousness of recent episodes.

This episode made me cry.
Because it gave me cancer.
Ash is crying because he had to release Goodra. Seriously? He only had it for, like, 10 episodes, used it not so many times as an important character.
It's a freaking Final Evo Pokemon and you aren't even keeping it for the Pokemon League.
No wonder why he's never been close to winning it.

Friggin' writers... Giving Ash a cool Pokémon with potential, evolve it quickly... and then get rid of it for no good reason. I mean, sure, Ash had a good reason, but the writers didn't have a good reason to make Ash's good reason a thing! I thought we were past the kind of crap they pulled on us with Butterfree and Primeape by now!

At the very least, I just wanted to see Goodra go to Professor Oak's at the end of the saga. Imagine Muk and Goodra double-teaming Professor Oak.

To be fair, he DID get to 4th place in the Sinnoh league.

Plus he won the Orange Island mini-league and Kanto BF.

To add to that, Ash only lost the Sinnoh League because his opponent possessed at least two extremely powerful legendaries. At least. And even then, consider how well Ash did in that battle, all things considered. He was the only one of Tobias's opponents in that tournament (maybe even ever) to defeat his Darkrai, and not only that, Pikachu even tied with Latios afterwards. Tobias even admitted that Gible's Draco Meteor would've finished off anything except for his Darkrai.

The way I see it, Ash still has a long way to go until he's the best, but he's definitely not the worst, either.
