XBox Kinect

I don't have an Xbox, and probably won't get one for a while. I was just wondering if Kinect was any good.

Methinks the games right now are looking pretty terrible. A bunch of minigames collection, basicly.

Sure, it's a huge leap into gaming, no controller and such...but is it really that great?

I have it and it's AWESOME! I played it with Kinect Sports and Kinect Adventures and it's plays great!(with the exception of your character glitching a bit from time to time).
But if that doesn't bother you, it's pretty great! God, I could go on forever about this thing, but to shorten it up, It is great. PERIOD.

I think it's horrible, but uhh, not to be racist or anything, I heard it doesn't pick up black people. Like, it wont recognize their character.

I heard it from a lot of people. Anyone able to lmk if it's wrong?

The Kinect is VERY casual. It picks up most people just fine. Depending on which game you have... it is fine. As far as its value goes, it depends how you think about it. The games are VERY simple. You will not be finding another CoD on it... the games are mostly not fun unless you are more of an arcade style player who can survive doing the same thing OVER AND OVER AGAIN for scores (which I am). The biggest question is "Is it worth my money?" IMO, it depends on how you think of it. If you think of it as a new game, then no. It is a very good piece of hardware, but the games that support it are... too basic to worthy the heafty price. If you think of it as another peripheral, then YES it is worth it. It is a much better piece of hardware than Guitar Hero guitars or Rock Band. The games are also a bit more diverse than what plastic guitars can play. Overall, basic but fun. Really depends on what kinda gamer you are. If you do not like to play in arcades, it might not be the best for you. The games are two actions AT MOST... so eh

The Kinect is ok.The Games for it however are very poor.It becomes boring after a few rounds. The only title that truly deserves some props from this is Dance Central and Zumba or Zamba Fitness. If you warrant an Xbox 360 s model or original, pick this up.

I didn't bother putting it on my Christmas list yet- the games released thus far, in my opinion, are few in quantity and most are pretty bad and/or boring, from what I'm hearing.

My sister got it for christmas and she loves it (being 7 years old) but i think its not that great and got bored pretty quickly. the games for it are bad (kinectimals is the worst excuse of a game ever made) but the system itself works ok except for the occasional glitching and big space needed to play it.

Aj you are wrong, the kinect is amazing and is fun to play all the time, just the game kinectamals is horrible

I have tried playing the Kinect, and it is pretty cool and fun. Though sometimes the character you are playing tends to glitch up, so you need to get the sensor bar in a good location so the glitching reduces. Overall very nice and very fun.

Wrong? He's just stating his opinion- how is his opinion 'wrong'?

Meh I saw it has the voice activation, which is nice and all but really an unneeded feature that's more for the movies. It takes more effort to speak clearly enough with little background noise that to just use the controller and press A. Also the games look extremely meh (kind of an oxymoron there), and while it looks like a very cool and exciting new type of game-play, it's difficult for it to live up to the hype. It's a cool novelty, but how hard is it really to hold a Wii Remote, and be able to play the much better games made for the Wii? I have never actually played it, just never really thought it would be great, although it's a fun idea that may attract some people, but it's not the kind of thing I tend to enjoy, or be able to just keep playing for more than a few minutes.

I think I would probably say it's good if the best game on it wasn't a dancing game. I might even try it and buy it. It seems like some pretty high-tech stuff with no controller and all. However, it's all kind of useless if it can't put in some practical use in good games.

dmaster out.

My 10 year old cousin got it for Christmas, and he and his brother (3), love it. I tried Kinect Adventures... it was underwhelming. Not bad, but underwhelming considering the hype. Kinectimals isn't very good at all. Probably not worth it unless they make some better games for it.

^ its just getting the same treatment that the wii got in the begining. games that just capitalized on the fact that360 you move around. i dont own a xbox 360 just a wii and ds. although the kinect seemed like a huge step forward it is glitchy as people have said. heck when my uncle told me about it like a year ago i was like no that is not true but here it is and i have tried it...its not as good as i would have though. ya you dont have anything in your hand but is a wii remote that much of an inconvenience? not really. heck its wierd not having a controller. but at least it wasnt a wii rip off *cough*the move*cough* with simular controllers and they came up with an original idea. its kind of like a prototype to somthing bigger and better. just my 2 cents on the topic
