Witch type is the strongest (or a combonation of types)? Put the type you think is the strongest on this thread. If you can put the symbol of that type on the post. I think fighting is the strongest{F}.

Offensively, Ground, Ice and Fighting have the strongest influence. Ground and Fighting can kill Steels, have thier own unique type effectiveness that are useful (Normal and Dark for Fighting, Electric for Ground) and are easily accessable for many parts, as all you need are hands and you are likely to get a fighting move in a TM. Earthquake is a widespread TM that is everywhere. Ice has the ability to kill Dragons without running the risk being hit with a STAB Dragon attack on the return. It also forms part of the two-part type combo BoltBeam, resisted only by a few type combinations, like Magnezone, or things that have Electric absorbtion (Lanturn). ANother note is That Ghost/Fighting or Dark/FIghting has very few resistors as well. Ghost/Fighting is only resistored by a Ghost/Normal (which doens't exist), and Dark/FIghting by Toxicroak and Heracross.

Defensively, Steels are the most potent typewise, from the list of 14 resistances though a weakness to Ground and Fighting hinder it's ability, though having other types around compensate for it. Ghosts and Flyings have their merits, former being immune to Fighting and occassionally Ground from Levitate, and Flyings resist Fighting and immune to Ground. Ghosts have the disbility of falling to those with Dark STAB, and with Pursuit results in them being easily trapped, being either a 2HKO-OHKO. RArely will they ever survive the first hit. Flyings hvae Stealth Rock weakness, and BoltBeam, as Ice Beam is almost always run as a good move for coverage.

Usually the most powerful depends on the pokemon or there stats/nature/EV's

But ignoring that
Fighting deals good damage for a normal attacking type as it destroys others it does nothing to others so really fighting types are really 50/50 I think. Water isn't really that powerful it has good properties in strength and weakness but only against types that are weak against it.
As Ice and Fire deal great damage and are very VERY good types they have not much weaknesses and quite a lot of strengths so Fire and Ice are a great type to have but not to deal with.
Bug will only be useful against psychic and grass types but they also get destroyed by them so it's really a bad type unless it has a second type with it that cancels out the other weakness then it becomes.....ok. Ghost, Poison and Psychic really are good types. Poison deals good damage in relation to fatigue and psychic/ghost do great/good damage altogether.

Dragon=god as it only has two weaknesses it only has one strength but it compensates through sp.attack stat and attack stat.
The same with steel only with attack stat it comepnsates
Flying and normal is just basically the same but normal has more weaknesses and flying has more strengths whereas normal has no strengths whatsoever.
Electric is broken but as it's weaknesses: Ground it becomes redundant if fighting or left alone with one.
Ground and Rock build up in defense so if you want to deal damage to them then you need to use special attacks/types.
Dark barely has any weakness and a lot of strengths which make it a very good type

There is no "strongest" type... they all have resistances and weaknesses+ There has to actually be a strong pokemon =/

Dark/Ghost is actually a mediocre defensive type. No weaknesses is helpful, but little resistances means heavy blows will weather it easily. Ghost/Steel with Levitate or Poison/Steel, or in fact Electric/Steel, has the capability to resist all but a few move types.

Ghost/Steel is neutral to Dark, Electric, Ghost, Water. WEak to FIre and Ground, if not levitating, and resists the rest. Poison/Steel neutral to ELectric, Psychic, Water, weak double to Ground and one to Fire. Everything else is resisted.

In fact, Dragon/Steel is one of the most brilliant defensive types. Neutral only to Dragon, Fire, and Ice, and weak to Ground and fighting, it eats all other moves with ease. Of course, neutrality to Dragon and Ice isn't as useful las a resistance, as they're in Ubers.

By the way, shouldn't we be looking rawly at the typing and effectiveness, not the stereotypical stats that come with it?

I like Electric types since I like Pikachu, Plusle and Minun and Pachirisu. But they're major flaw is Defense and Sp. Def. But, that's why I always carry strong backup Pokemon

But Normal types get their clocks cleaned by Fighting types and aren't super effective against any others and can't even hit Ghost types

This is true but a wide selection of moves can give more choice and maybe that upper hand
Giving the opponent an un-expected move will take them out easily

Anyone ever faced a Nasty Plot Pory-Z? Even Aggron takes a nasty chuck from the fact that it's resisted only by two types, which are easily covered using a single type. The variety of stats that can be distrubuted to Pokemon make them unable to be judged by type, and vice versa. Or even SD Ursaring or Extreme Killer Arceus. Covering for the types they don't hit is easy. Of course, the two types covering for it is usually Fighting/Ghost or Fighting/Dark, which is an attack combo in itself. Oh well, it can learn it, can't it?

And defensive, Special based Normal types are expected to carry Ice Beam/Thunderbolt/Flamethrower. Anyone who doesn't cover for that needs more practice.

Incrediable. It's a solid 2HKO with Tri Attack, NP Pory-Z with Life Orb on 252 HP/0 SpD Aggron. And that's a double resist.
