How come it's not as popular as the Anime here in the U.S.? I keep hearing that it's much better than the Anime series where alot of people felt that it jumped the shark after Misty left the show to go back to being a Gym Leader.
In the US manga in general isn't nearly as popular as it is in Japan (assuming that your American). In addition to that you have to pay for manga you don't have to pay for tv (well your parents do but you don't). And being that over half the people that play pokemon are embarrassed by it they don't want to have manga lying all over the room when their friends come over.
I sort of see your point but it's been said that you get more out of manga than you do anime. Instead of having manga lying around there's ways in which you can read it online for free via scanlations and such much like being able to watch fansubs for free online.
Oh and for the record I'm 26 years old so I don't have anything to be ashamed of. But yeah I can see how Pokemon fans would get embarrassed by that sort of thing unless If it was Shonen Jump or something deep that was TokyoPop related or something...
