Totem Pokemon are essentially just boss Pokemon, and it's hinted that it will differ depending on what version you have. You probably won't be able to catch them, but they're still exciting nonetheless.

So far, we may* we have:
  • Gumshoos in Sun, Raticate in Moon
  • Lurantis
  • Wishiwashi*
  • Hakamo-o (might just be demo only)
What differences do you think there will be? How many Totem Pokemon will we face? Who do you want to battle? why can't we put two prefixes?
 
I think a Lycanroc Totem would be cool. Maybe a Passimian/Oranguru one? Passimian could call allies with a good ability so you'd have to be careful who you knocked out, and Oranguru could have fast pokemon so it can instruct them to attack again, if that's how Instruct works. (I'll be honest, the mechanics are unknown to me.)

But that's just my two cents.
 
I do like the amount of strategy employed by some of the Totem Pokemon, it makes for an interesting challenge. Salazzle has Toxic + Venoshock, Lurantis spams Synthesis, and Vikavolt holds an Occa Berry. Definitely not something you can sweep through easily like gym leaders in past games.
