Welcome to Theorymon Thursday
This is a weekly discussion topic where we talk about ideas we have for certain Pokemon that could increase their competitive viability.

This week, we’ll be talking about Flygon in the VGC metagame.
Flygon really needs something to be viable over other dragon types. Mainly Garchomp.
If GF didn't care enough to give it a Mega evolution, we can at least try to make it more viable (theoretically).

What do you think Flygon could have in order to compete other Dragon-types (ahamm Garchomp ahamm) and distinguished itself from them while being more viable in the VGC metagame?
It can be a type change, a move or ability. Pick one or two of these and explain what can make Flygon better.
You may not change its base stats or replace both types, and you may add only one move to Flygon.
Please comment with your own ideas, alongside any comments for other members’ ideas. We’re all here to have fun!

New Move: Dragon Dance (LOOOOOL NOBODY SAW THAT COMING, RIGHT???)
New Type: nah
New Ability: nah

Literally just give it dragon dance. I would make it bulkier if I could, but I can't with this activity. 80/80/80 bulk isn't bad anyways, so that's ok. This is really all it needs, IMO. +1 STAB outrage and Earthquake is pretty good, hits everything hard. Garchomp would hit harder with Swords Dance, but Flygon would be able to outspeed with Dragon Dance. The only thing that you'd get outsped by would be Choice Scarfers or priority. I didn't change flygon's typing for a couple of reasons. Firstly, changing the typing would mean losing STAB on either Dragon or Ground, which would be bad. Secondly, any logical type change (ie: bug) would mean losing out on some of the unique Resistances Flygon has. I didn't want to give it a new ability either because I think pretty much any ability you would use would be completely irrelevant. Regenerator would be good in Singles because Flygon commonly carries U-turn, but that's not the case for doubles. Sand Veil I guess would be cool with Tyranitar as a teammate, but honestly, I like Levitate because it makes you immune to your opponent's Earthquakes, which is pretty huge. Things like Landorus-T won't be able to target both pokemon at the same time. If I could change a second thing I'd give it another move, TBH, like Poison Jab or Gunk Shot to hit Fairy-types without the low accuracy of Iron Tail.

Logical? yes. Dragon Dance on a dragon seems fine to me. Sand Veil would also be logical if I chose to use it, but I think Levitate is just better in VGC, tbh. The only other abilities I could see being relevant at all would be something stupidly broken like, Pure Power or something, but that doesn't really make sense.
