why, it's not retreating, it's switching. You only need to pay the retreat cost if you're retreating

OK, interpret it like your opponent plays the trainer "Switch"
"Switch" and "retreat" are different.
(On a side note.. cute-mew, while it's true that people should have rulebooks, keep in mind that they only come with decks. And what decks are actually worth buying? Fire red, the LMs to some extent... and that's it.)
