Starter pokemon?

A...land dolphin? Like from the Paleozoic Era? (It's got to have at least the Psychic type though, considering how smart dolphins are.)

And hey, they made three forms of the mudskipper. You just make a small cute one, an adolescent one with a bit of an attitude, and a fully-grown adult tough guy.

Ophie! You're so well knowing of the animal kingdom. I commend that, since animal study is one of my favorite hobbies.

I too have heard about the pistol shrimp, and the water spider.

As to where I think a water spider pokemon would be awesome, it sounds very very difficult to interpret into a pokemon.
and true, another shrimp isn't really needed.

I thought that a mammal would make for a neat water type pokemon, so I thought ofa few possibilities... then someone said "dolphin" and I thought it would never work, but when I thought of a more dinosaur like for it fit...
So far I've only really got the first stage down, and even that is a little sketchy... but I guess it'd progress into a more spinosaurus-looking form as it evolves.

So, as it evolves, it really is evolving? Perhaps it will be a normal Dolphin by the time it is stage 2.

sure. A lot of pokemon really do evolve if you at them...
and sometimes, pokemon are just two different creatures when they evolve. (Barbroach - Wishcash) is what I think is a Hagfish and then a catfish.
crazy.

I'm trying to think if I when Ribburn evolves, if he should take on a more fat toad like form (because most fire starter pokemon have been somewhat slim) or if he should take on a more agile fighter look, (like toxicroak).
I'm pretty partial to the second idea, even though he'd not be a fire/fighter type like some before... <.<
What I really like about my fire frog is that it will be using heat and steam as it's main attacks instead of stuff like flamethrower. And when he gets ready to release a Steambomb attack, his nose would let out steam and make a whistle sound like a kettle. :p

I have a drawing of Mossbea up now in my fan art topic.

I don't think there's been a mammalian Water starter yet. We've had three reptiles and a fish (if you consider birds as reptiles), thouh a requirement is that they must be able to travel on land.

I see you got an idea for a Water/Fire Pokémon. I didnt think of that, nor do I think I ever would. Water/Fire would make an interesting combination, though I'd like to see Fire/Grass more, as each type cancels out many of the others weaknesses, kind of like with Cradily.

A water spider I don't think would be too difficult. It has an extremely distinguishing physical feature, which is the silvery bubble around its abdomen. I would love to see a Pokémon in the future in the form of a spider with a bubble around its abdomen, even if it's inverted and the bubble is a bunch of water as the spider travels on land. Surskit doesn't cut it for Water/Bug for me.

Water Fire?
Do you mean my fire starter pokemon, Ribburn?
I'm not so sure I want Ribburn to be a water-fire... more just that he would be a frog who enjoys fire and heat instead of moisture... sorta like a mix between a lizard and a frog... much how Torkoal is a steam sort of fire pokemon... even though he's a reptile... (I didn't even think about how Torkoal was already a steam sort)

Surskit would be good if he didn't gain a flying trait when he evolved. My pokemon evolution line of Scofigi-Scoffle-Scoffgen are all water/bug type pokemon. That pokemon is planned to be pretty strong.

And I agree, a fire-grass would be great... I remember seeing this plant, and it can only release it's cones for reproduction after there has been a forest fire and that got me thinking of a grass-fire type.
And yes, the sider idea would be neat. Just would have a hard time thinking of how to create it. like if it should have the scary spider features such as the mandibles and 8 eyes.

Water spiders aren't really that threatening to humans. They sometimes bite people; they just don't like to. I guess that means you can lean more towards a cutesy look. But it's your choice.

What I had in mind for a Grass/Fire was a jack-o-lantern. After all, it's a pumpkin, which comes from a plant, and jack-o-lanterns have a candle inside and holes carved as a face, which is where the fire part comes in. (A jack-o-lantern can also be Grass/Ghost, another type combination not yet touched.)

Sealeo
totodile

:p

Jack-o-lanturn huh? Maybe. It is something that his yet to be done.

How about a quire...
it is a mythical creature a cross between a dog and a beavear it stands up on it's back legs and has fins and webbed feet...
