i mean i don't really see anything i like besides the trainers
oh an btw the energies look really cool
but other than that it seems like they just tried to make powerful cards
like i dont see any pokemon really like a claydol or spiritomb or anything on such the matter of saying i dont see any cards really that are adding stradegy to thhe game..just power?

I'm not disappointed. HGSS is honestly a good set. While we might not really have any draw Pokemon (excluding Noctowl) we have an array of Trainers and Supporters, some very powerful Pokemon, and other Pokemon with disrupting attacks. And the cards aren't too powerful seeing that they would have a counter in the set.

hmmm maybe what im trying to say is that i dont see like anything really besides attacks..i mean i don't even see too many pokepowers on any of these scans and i can think of at least 10 just rares from arceus with a power or body and i only counted 6 in the scans from this one!!!(excluding prime and babies)

hmmm and what direction do you say that is?lol

Slower, for one. Won't be as many donk decks. (The only one in this set I can think of is Donphan.) Basically, back to the Base Set days, XD (Even though it's a bit faster than Base Set.)

yea and that kinda agrees with my statement earlir
its not too much strategy just most hp and better attacks wins..
and why go back to the game was used to play it only improved in time and now looks like its just going back..and no donk decks?the shuppet deck will beat any of the hgss decks im 100%sure of that easy too theres not a basic with more than 90 hp in the series i saw

lol why do you say that
and i thought we were talking about the new decks

I'm with you on this one. The biggest thing that excited me and interested me getting back in was all the tech and speed with the SP cards and trainer engines and all that. I love combos, I can't help myself.

I hope in the next couple sets they come around and give us some more to work with regarding the pokemon, I can't complain about the trainer lineup in HGSS at all. I can understand them wanting to slow the game down a little and take out some of the really obscene stuff, but I just hope they can find a good medium and don't throw us back to the days of base set. I'd have a hard time staying interested if that happened.

yea like if they do that i'll never buy new cards just play with my DP cards
i mean i played the game and it finally became actually really good once the first set of DP came out
so I think any real player is with us here about it looking like they're losing stradegy and just making power pokemon
but i do think the expert belts are kinda op'd but thats just me and a totally different discussion lol

I grew up with the base set and seeing how with HGSS, they're reverting back to the slow play fashion, it has me fairly excited. Like all the new little kids and what not will be lost because all they have known is the fast play. Its going back the old school, the way I like it. So in now way has this set disappointed me.

Ninetails. The thing that makes Charizard as good as it would be. Its a good set. Ninetails, great Typhlosion, Donphan, Feraligatr, Ampharos, and then there is Dunsparce, a great counter to Flygon in the now dying Shuppet. DCE, and then the trainers.

í'm kinda disappointed at some of the artwork
and that they didn't want to rename trainers "items" in the english release
oh, well o.o
í do love the special energy design though, and that they actually changed the border for once
í hated the yellow so much, and now í don't have to collect japanese cards XD

It's definitely reverting back to base set days. Everything has double weakness, not just specials like SPs. =P That'll make things a little exciting.

I just got my Professor store order of 900 energies, and I am thinking now that I should have waited, because I really want those silhouetted ones instead.

Jumpluff would like a word with you.

At any rate, this set WILL have a huge impact on the meta simply due to the trainers and DCE. Several other tricks will be popping up, a few older cards will see more use and thats about it. What more do we need?

...It's the first set of HGSS... DP didn't hold that much either. I think this is a great set. It's going to change the meta a lot and who cares about donk decks. Those are so unfun to play against. It will make cards faster though with DCE. I mean, Cleffa's back in, FISHERMAN, DCE, COPYCAT, Elm's is ok, Oak! The trainers and supporters are great! Also Frealigator Prime, Jumpluff, Donphan, Typhlosions alright. This is a good FIRST set. Much unlike SV...

EDIT: And look at those energies!

Well the fear is that they keep going in this direction and once PL rotates out we basically have Base Set again. At the moment sure it's a nice supplement to what we have and DCE is going to make a lot of new decks viable.

I don't really see anything wrong with having Base Set all over again, with a little bit of an improvement. We can't have the fast-paced battling that DP and Platinum brought us forever. We have to change up how we play somehow. Slower battles just means giving people more room to breath and actually think about what they're doing. So many mistakes are made when people play too fast.

I know that will surely irritate certain players in the tournaments of my area. People get impatient with me because I don't get done with what I'm doing as fast as they would like. =P

After Arceus I think any set is an improvement, really.

I mean, I don't like HG/SS that much, but y'know.

Hoping next couple sets are better.

Yeah, like Blaze said, DP wasn't all that big of a meta-changer either. I am really excited about this slower format because it will allow for combo decks. We just need some good cards to combo. I doubt we'll be getting any in this set though. Wait for the next couple of sets.

You say this now only because Jumpluff isn't in the scans yet.
