Slow Playing Issue

Hi Pokébeach,
After the UK Nationals last weekend, I've noticed a lot of people talking about slow playing. With this being such a big issue, I was wondering why we don't have separate clocks for each player during a tournament? I'm picturing a chess style setup where one timer runs on your turn, and when your turn ends, the other timer starts for your opponent. If your timer runs out you lose the game. This seems like it could solve the slow playing problem completely.

The main issue is the cost, from what I remember; this discussion happens every few years. Perhaps by now the clocks are affordable enough but especially back when the goal was to keep major tournaments free of entry fees, the cost was just too much.

Keep in mind this will not truly eliminate slow play, but rather codify it. Now I know exactly how much time I need to burn in order to win according to time, or exactly how much I need to rush to avoid losing due to time. I am fine with such a change, but others may not be.
