Writing Short Story Competition #3

Perhaps. What is difficult for some is easy for others though, and surely some of our fic writers can get something done... it isn't as if this is a brand new topic anymore either - people have had plenty of time for it D:

But I guess there is still enough time for people to bring a fic to us. It will be a shame if there's only 4-5 fics though...

I would love to submit my entry, but my laptop crashed, so I don't have it anymore. T_T Right now I am trying to revive my now dead laptop. (I'm using my friend's right now)

I would love to write something, but I am a retired author here and plus my laptop crashed so I don't have MS Word anymore. >_< (I go on fanfiction.net now) Anyway I hope that I'll be able to get MS Word back soon so I can rewrite my entry. (All the way back from scratch)

Hows it the same ending though? "Joining Team Rocket" is pretty much a hars generalisation in this case, IMO, as one story makes it appearant from the start something like that's gonna happen whereas the other one shows it in a quite different way. Also the motivations are completely different - vengeance vs. lifesaving

gamercal, both entries that I've seen end the same. The character joins Team Rocket.

Try reading entry 3 then, cause it's clearly different to that <_<

I going to enter! How long the we have to post the entry?

Read the first post -_-

Yeah, if this trend continues I might have to increase the time limit. I won't close this competition any time soon, but it would be nice to have more members.

You have one more participant. :]

I've been listening to this epic song over and over, and my idea came to me. I'll start writing tomorrow.

The Great Overview

I have experienced many things while traveling with my trainer. I had made many friends and allies, enemies, and seen so many places. I felt the difference in the wind, the grass tickling my yellow feet. I been in many battles, with electricity excitedly charged in my cheeks. I also experienced the love of a trainer, and companionship with humans, I have seen some unfortunate Pokemon and I always wonder what would it be like if I was in there place, but of course I would never understand that feeling since I had such a great trainer.

I came from the land called Kanto stuck in a dark surrounding for a long while. It wasn't until one day a trainer came in. He had came in late and I was his last resort. At first though I didn't listen to him, shocking him constantly with electricity. Hey if you were stuck in a Poke'ball for so long you would not trust humans a lot. I usually stayed outside of my Poke'ball since I never liked the cramped space the device provided and being stuck in it for such a long time could do that to a Pokemon.

I never obeyed him until flocks of wild Spearows attacked us. I was being as stubborn and didn't really follow my trainer's orders and tried to fight them off on my own. But, when I was obviously out numbered. When I couldn't take another hit, my trainer protected me from them and fled to try to find a place for me to heal. I was really touched by his actions and soon came to like him.

My trainer had such an admirable drive and motivation. He always treated his Pokemon with respect and cared for them like they were his family. I had to admit that I really admired him for his caring nature, rash, but admirable personality. Even if we lost, he still took care of us and still loved us as if we were his family. At first I was afraid of loosing since I thought that he would let me go, but he always told us that we had done so well and he was always satisfied with our work even if we lost. That just made us work harder for him, to make him proud and to show off how much we care for him.

I have always traveled with him even if he left his Pokemon at the place called Pallet so they could get some rest, he always let me stay with him. He would always take me along with him which made me happy. I liked being around him. I always like traveling with him because I was able to meet new types of people and Pokemon I can befriend. His life was nothing, but full of adventure when I am around and I have to say though, I don't mind the constant adventure at all.

I always try my best when battling, I want to make my trainer proud of me, even though he maybe be proud of me, I just feel the need to show him how much I appreciate him. How I never regret for taking me along with him, for his endless care in Pokemon, and how I appreciate that every day I get to learn something new.

Like I said before I traveled far and wide with my trainer, always liking the new feel every place gives off. I can experience the fresh new soil of every place, the wind, and the laughter and chatter of the new people. My adventures were also full of laughs and mysteries, but they were always so fun. My trainer made friends so easily even if they were stubborn, he had so many people surround him. I don't know if he knows it, but he had a type of affect around people and Pokemon. It was that factor that drew a lot of people towards him, even if it wasn't really good at times.

To this day I remember how I started out and how my skill evolved. I remember all the friends I made through out Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and now the new found friends in Sinnoh. I know my trainer is having fun since I see the bright smile on his face a lot of the time, and the hint of joy in his voice when he speaks.

Even if my resolve is to battle for him and show him how much he changed me hasn't really been accomplished yet, I know I will get there someday, where I will show him how much I evolved over the years of battling and being with him. I will someday make him realize that I am battling out of gratitude with a bit of fun on the side and someday I know he'll realize my resolve, even if he doesn't notice it just yet.

"Come on Pikachu, you're up!"

And there I go.

Title: Lights, Camera, Action!
No. of words: 3,000

All were silent; no one moved; they held their breath. Felicity was holding a small microphone, watching carefully as the cameraman counted down from five on his fingers, each representing another fleeting second before Jubilife TV would be on the air. Three…two…one.

“Good afternoon and welcome to Jubilife City TV!” Felicity exclaimed into the microphone, “This is Felicity Heart and today we have with us yet another witness of the now ever-common disappearances inside Eterna Forest, Cheryl Park. Cheryl, will you please tell us what happened to you inside Eterna Forest?”

“Me and my boyfriend were just taking a stroll through the forest and we got to a nice little area and laid down our picnic blanket. Pretty soon we had attracted the attention of a whole swarm of these big, weird bugs and so my boyfriend got up to see if he could find us a better picnicking spot and he didn’t come back.”

By the conclusion of her tale, the girl was practically sobbing. Felicity put a sympathetic hand on her shoulder and looked directly into the camera saying, “So there you have it folks, another example of the mystery that is haunting the minds of everyone in Sinnoh. Once again, I’m Felicity Heart, and remember, when the case is solved, you’ll hear it here first!”

And with that, they were off the air. Felicity’s warm smile vanished instantly and was replaced by an exasperated frown. She trudged grimly into her motor home and lay down on the couch. With the back of her hand, she rubbed some of the thick layers of cherry, red lipstick off of her lips and using a wet washcloth, she dabbed her cheeks, making distinct gaps in her pale makeup.

It had been two weeks since the Jubilife City TV crew had come to the Eterna Forest, eager to be the first to investigate the case. They had been first, but it wasn’t long before their story attracted the attention of nearly every other news casting channel on television. Now, it was anyone’s game. This was Sinnoh’s big story, and if Felicity Heart wanted to remain the region’s hottest on-the-spot reporter, then she would have to act fast.

But she was too tired to think about fast. For the past week, she had been making due with two or three hours of sleep each night. Now, exhausted, she collapsed onto her makeshift bed on the couch and attempted to catch a few Zs. As she grew silent and unmoving, a faint beeping noise became audible and agitating. Grumpily, Felicity pulled her cell-phone from her pocket and looked at the screen which read: 1 new message today from Mr. Jubilife.

Flipping the phone open, she began to listen to the message left by her boss. “Hey Felicity! This is Mr. Jubilife! I was just watching your latest interview and I just felt like I need to remind you of your mission here. The public is no longer satisfied with these pointless, cliché interviews. I need you to dig deeper into this story; because if you are not the first reporter to solve this mystery, just remember that I have a long line of people just waiting to take your place. Bye now!” With an exasperated sigh, the reporter flopped down on the couch again.

“Alright Felicity,” said a voice from behind her, “It’s now or never and it’s your call, what’re we going to do?”

“Jake,” Felicity said, “Sunyshore Live is going to steal our story if we don’t act fast. If Sunday gets the coverage before I do, it’s curtains for Jubilife TV. We have to solve this mystery first. Get two cameramen. The four of us will go tonight.” Jake didn’t look altogether pleased with the aspect of going in a forest into which countless others had gone before whom hadn’t emerged afterward, but he knew better than to argue with Felicity and so he shrugged, and went in search of the two cameramen who would accompany them.

He hadn’t been absent more than a half-a-moment when Felicity’s cell phone started to ring again. She checked her caller ID and she rolled her eyes exasperatedly when the pixel name flashed on the screen, “What do you want, Sunday?” She demanded, into the phone, “If you’re looking for surrender you won’t get one!”

“Oh c’mon Felice,” Sunday, lead reporter for Sunyshore Live replied in her bubbly voice, “How come you always have the presumption that I want the worst for Jubilife? Did you ever consider that we might not have to be enemies?”

“Yes; and if my memory serves, that didn’t work so well,” Feliciy replied coldly, set on edge by the use of that annoying nickname that Sunday had come up with for her, “Now tell me what the heck you’re calling for before I hang up on you!”

“Oh, I just wanted to know if you felt like taking a stroll in the forest with me and my crew later. It is so beautiful out here, but I would understand if you don’t feel like making the trip, it’s a bit scary for little kids like you guys. Bye!”

“Wait! Sunday-“ Felicity snapped. But the Sunyshore reporter had already hung up. Furious at being a step behind her rival, she marched out of her mobile home and stormed over to Jake, who was trying to coax two nervous cameramen. “Guys, we’re going now!” She said, nearly fuming.

“Uh, uh, no way are we going into that occult-infested forest!” One of the cameramen cried, “And b-besides, we can’t leave until at least after the next show in an hour!” Felicity yanked her orange coat tighter around her body, assumed a stance that seemed to say ‘irk me and die’, and said with mock sweetness, “Keep in mind boys, I can make things much scarier for you myself than whatever is in that forest, so if I were you, I would make my choices carefully.”

Half-an-hour later, the group had made their way at last to the outskirts of the forest. It was ten-o-clock and an ominous darkness had set over Eterna. The city lights were dark and every living thing besides themselves seemed to be asleep. All was silent, like right before a live report, and Felicity’s instincts half wanted to suddenly face the camera and say, “Good evening, this is Felicity Heart here at Jubilife City TV!” But she didn’t.

From somewhere above, the hoot of a Noctowl filled the night as it leapt from its perch and fluttered away, off towards a safer nesting spot. “So she could sense it too,” Felicity though grimly. Something was wrong about it all. Why had no one witnessed any of the disappearances? Were the victims abducted by humans? Or were less material forces at work. Thinking of either sent cold chills up her spine.

It wasn’t long before Jake ordered that the procession be halted, as they had met with an obstacle. Felicity came to inspect and found a deep crevice in the earth far wider than any jump could clear. Falling in, it seemed, would definitely result in added difficulties, if not an indefinite halt in the expedition. With this in mind, Felicity looked over the obstacle before her as a problem to be solved and as an opponent to be overcome; tactfully and logically.

She looked around for something with which to cross the chasm and her eyes fell suddenly upon a thick looking vine overhanging the gap. With a little jump, she was able to snag the end of the vine and begin swinging like a pendulum from one piece of land to the other. Timing carefully, she made her jump. The landing had been calculated well, and her feet were soon once again upon the support of solid earth. Unfortunately, the vine snapped upon her release and now Jake and the two with him had no possible way of crossing. They urged Felicity to wait where she was until they could find a way across but Felicity shook her head and said, “I have to go now, you guys can go back to camp, I’ll hopefully be back by morning.”

She had not been walking for long when she came across an open area that was being use as a campsite for her Sunyshorian rivals. Felicity grimaced. Sunday was there after all; and she had come prepared to play this game as long as it took to win the coverage. Stepping closer, she felt the earth suddenly give way beneath her and she was sent plunging into a deep pit. The mouth of the hole had been covered with a blanket of leaves and twigs, and Felicity realized that she had fallen into a trap. Instantly, a familiar, blonde head popped out from above the mouth of the hole, an expression of triumph on her face.

“Ha!” Sunday laughed, “Looks like I gotcha’ again! Now you just be a good girl and stay down there while I tell the public on live television that I found the secret to the Eterna Forest.”

Felicity’s face paled. “What? You solved the mystery?” She cried from her pit-prison.

“Oh, no, but our viewers don’t have to know that. Being second to get the inside story doesn’t really inspire that Sunyshore Live spark!” Sunday replied doing her signature twirl, “You see, according to our news cast, which everyone in Sinnoh will be watching tomorrow morning, aliens are the cause of the disappearances. The beautiful damsel Sunday was also abducted and so she witnessed the crisis first-hand. But being as smart as she is, was able to escape and bring the story to Sinnoh! And you won’t be able to do anything about it! Now, if you’ll excuse me, my hair will need a lot of work before its ready for tomorrow’s show!”

Felicity’s face flushed with rage. She attempted in vain to escape her pit-prison, but whenever she found a foothold, the weak earth collapsed beneath her feet and she was sent sprawling once again on the floor. This pattern continued for what felt to Felicity like hours until finally, in despair, she slumped sorrowfully against the earthen wall of the pit and fell into a deep sleep.

She dreamt of a bright, beckoning light, embedded in some hollow crack. A loud buzzing sound filled the air around her and her eyes were drawn to the light. She stared deep and thoroughly at it and when she tried, she found she was unable to do otherwise. She felt suddenly the world around her begin to fade away; as if she were flying aimlessly through the air, leaving the material and entering the obscure. It was like a nightmare.

The next instant, or maybe it had been an eternity, Felicity didn’t and never would know, she found herself in the same predicament that she had been in when she had fallen to sleep. But something was very different. She was staring at her own body, her own self, from out of a separate pair of eyes. It was like a mirror, only this time, when she tried to raise one of her arms, nothing happened.

She began to panic. What was happening? She sat totally and completely motionless, yet the Felicity she was watching continued to move, attempting desperately to escape the hole. She decided that whatever was happening, escaping would be in her best interest as well and so she took a forceful jump into the air and…she didn’t come down. She was floating, hovering, in midair. A few more feet of levitation and she had cleared the gaping mouth of the crevice and found herself in the midst of the dark camp of Sunyshore Live.

She gazed back into the hole to find herself still trying in vain to get out of the pit. It was seriously disturbing. What was happening? She stretched out her arm, expecting to see a limb of pink flesh. Instead, the horrifying shape of an insectoid appendage moved at her mind’s command. She gasped in terror and began running, or flying, directly toward the campsite of the Sunyshorians.

About five tents had been set up and it was easy to find the one that belonged to Sunday. The bright pink color stood out from the other deep blue tents and so Felicity knew right where to go. Where there was Sunday, there was a mirror. She needed an answer. Flying directly into the open flap of the tent door, she hovered over the shoulder of the Sunyshorian reporter, whom was fidgeting exasperatedly with her hair before a large mirror that she had hung crudely on the wall. Behind the woman’s head, the shed-shell body of a Shedninja hovered. Felicity moved sharply to the right. The Shedninja did the same.

Then an article from a Hoenn magazine she had read flooded her memory. Shedninja will steal the soul of any who look into the crack on its back. Terror swept over the former reporter. It couldn’t be. This was the cause of all of the disappearances inside Eterna Forest! Shedninja were stealing souls, and taking the victim’s bodies!

Suddenly, there came a knock at the tent door. With a sigh of relief, Sunday got up and unzipped the flap, allowing a burly man to enter the tent. “Is it finally time to go?” Sunday demanded, “I swear this tent was meant for common folk, not a fashion queen like me!”

The man rolled his eyes and replied, “Yes, it’s time to go. It’s a long way to Sunyshore and we have to do the show first thing in the morning! The mobile is waiting out front.”

“Mobile?” Sunday replied inquiringly, “I thought we were taking the jet!”

“How many times do I have to tell you?” The man exclaimed, “We are not taking the dang jet!”

With that, the man left Sunday’s tent and grumbling, the reporter set about packing her enormous suitcases for the trip. Felicity’s heart raced. Sunyshore Live was going to address the entire Region of Sinnoh from Sunyshore the next morning. It would be the perfect time to do what she was trained to do and give everyone the real story! She didn’t have time to consider the problem of how to report while she was in a Shedninja’s body, because Sunday was just zipping up her last suitcase and Felicity barely had enough time to fly inside before it was sealed.

She felt suddenly the case in which she hid being lifted into the mobile and deposited unceremoniously onto the floor. “Thank god that Sunday is paranoid enough about her outfits that she punched holes in this case,” Felicity thought. Sunday had packed plenty of snacks in her suitcase and Felicity ate as much as she could, no longer having to worry about keeping her stomach size in check. It was almost luxurious.

The next time she opened her eyes, Felicity realized that it was morning, and that the mobile had stopped in Sunyshore City. She hoped fervently that the show had not already taken place. Just then, Sunday’s hands began to unzip the case and Felicity heard her mumbling something about needing her makeup for the show. Perfect; it hadn’t happened yet, now was the time to act. Felicity flew out of the opening in the zipper, sending Sunday tumbling over backwards in surprise.

The Jubilife reporter was quick in her new body and instantly bolted out of the mobile door. About ten cameramen were preparing their cameras at the large set of Sunyshore Live, each eager to get the best recording of Sunday’s performance. The Sunyshorian reporter was just coming onto the stage and Felicity watched as the wall clock with the ‘Time until on air’ sign counted down from sixty fleeting seconds before everyone in Sinnoh heard Sunday’s lie.

Felicity saw her chance and made a wild dive towards her. The cameramen were able to count the remaining seconds on their fingers now. With every falling finger, Felicity closed the distance between her and her target. Three; Two; One; and Sunyshore Live was on the air.

“Hello and welcome to Sunyshore Live!” Sunday exclaimed, doing her signature twirl, “I’m your favorite on-the-spot reporter Sunday coming to you live from Sunyshore City! Today, Sunyshore Live-.”

But Sunday was cut off. Felicity threw herself in front of the girl’s face and the blinking red light inside the crack inside Felicity’s back caught the reporter’s eye. Instantly, Felicity felt herself once again the world around her begin to fade away, flying aimlessly through the air, leaving the shed-shell body and entering Sunday’s petite one. Within a moment, she was seeing through her rival’s eyes and staring into the numerous cameras lined up and the wide-eyed expressions of the cameramen.

“Is a fake!” She finished for Sunday. She heard a chorus of gasps arise from the crewmen. “It’s me! I’m Felicity Heart from Jubilife TV!” She exclaimed, “I know what really happened inside Eterna Forest!”

From there, Felicity did what she knew best how to do; she told Sinnoh the true story. Later, she brought the police with her to the forest where they found the Felicity possessed by the Shedninja and, with some difficulty, managed to return Sunday and Felicity to their respective bodies. Afterwards, a police squadron set off on an expedition to do the same with the leftover victims. It wasn’t long until all had been returned to normal and the Shedninjas were transferred into a private facility where they wouldn’t steal anymore souls.

As for Sunday, after Felicity had revealed the story about Sunyshore Live trying to deceive Sinnoh, the show went off the air, and was replaced by a new show called Jigglypuff’s Sing-Along where Sunday dressed up as a giant Jigglypuff and dance and sing to childish songs. Felicity ended up being promoted by Jubilife TV and just recently reported on the opening to a portal to another dimension atop Mt. Coronet. Of course, that’s another story.

I think I am going to loose. Oh well, maybe I should have added more to mine. Oh well, I might change my entry later, who knows.

Good luck to those other mystery writers!

A Simple Journey

The feeling of falling there is nothing like it. The sound of the air rushing past you, feeling your clothes pressed against your body. It would really be enjoyable if the ending wasn’t so unpleasant, but I’m ahead of myself. Let’s start this at the beginning of a simple trip from Pallet town to Cinnabar Island. Unfortunately this trip ended being anything but simple.
Leaving my house I said good bye to my mom and walked the short distance to the shore. I pulled one of the small pokeballs off of my waist and threw it into the air. In a red flash of light a giant sea dragon appeared. “Gyra, are you ready to go back to your trainer?” I yelled.
He responded in a giant “RAWRRRR,” which I interpreted as a yes. He lowered his head and I scrambled up top. With a powerful whip of his tail we took off across the ocean. Despite his ferocious appearance he was actually quite gentle. His head was immobile while he was cutting through the water. I decided to let out Raichu to ride with me. We watched the small islands go past atop the gentle giant.
All of a sudden a large explosion of water erupted in front of us. Gyra stopped as a large Tentacrule burst forth.
“Aw crap, this voyage was so peaceful too…” I exclaimed. “Gyra use ice beam on the water!”
He immediately complied and froze a large portion of water solid, the Tentacrule made it above the ice in time to not get trapped. “Ok Saur take him out!” I yelled as I sent another pokeball into the air. Another flash of red light revealed an Ivysaur that looked ready to battle. “Saur use razor leaf!” He reared back and sent some blade sharp leaves towards his opponent catching him off guard. It actually dodged most of the leaves but there were some pretty sharp cuts put into the big blue top part of the Pokémon.
“Saur hit him with Solar Beam!” Saur began to charge up but the giant jelly fish got to him first. He swung his tentacle and sent Saur flying. “Use vine whip!” I yelled. He immediately listened and sent out his vines to grab on to the Tentracrule and pulled himself back onto the ice. He tried to stop his sliding but he came back too fast and was out of control. Sliding into the tentacles he got shocked by them and was knocked out…
“Crap… I’m sorry Saur that was my fault,” I whispered as I returned him. I looked up at Tentacrule and saw he seemed to be starting to falter. “Ok then come out and finish this fast Monkeyman, use thunderpunch!” I threw the pokeball close to the jellyfish and as soon as the small monferno materialized a large shockwave shot through tentacrule and he broke the ice and disappeared into the darkness of the ocean.
“Good job Monkeyman. Come back here!” He ran back to join me and Rai on Gyra’s head and I congratulated him. We immediately continued the journey towards Cinnabar and we didn’t have any other major problems. There were some nice small islands scattered but there wasn’t much else. The only glitch was I had to return Monkeyman because the salt spray was starting to bother him. When we arrived at Cinnabar and there was a teenage girl waiting on the shore.
“I see you trained him well,” she complemented as we came ashore.
“Why don’t you show me the fruits of you training Erica?” Her mood immediately shifted and she looked embarrassed as she sent out the pokeball. A small Feebass appeared out of the light. You see both me and Erica were having trouble evolving both of our, rather pathetic, fish Pokémon. Considering I am a trainer and she is a coordinator we figured we could help each other out considering both of our Pokémon were more leaned towards each other’s specialties.
“I’m sorry… I just couldn’t figure out how to evolve Milo…” she said as she was looking down at the sand. “I tried giving her pokeblocks, poffins, and several other things, just nothing would work. I’m sorry.”
“It’s fine… I’ll just keep training her till she evolves,” I said as I looked at the pitiful flopping fish on the ground. “Here let’s go to the poke center I need to heal up Saur and grab a bite to eat. Here let’s trade back now too, return Gyra.” I walked up to Erica as she returned Milo. We exchanged balls and she wouldn’t make eye contact. “It’s ok don’t be upset, even Prof. Oak doesn’t know how to evolve Feebass yet.”
“Yea I guess your right; here let’s go.”
We walked up to the Pokémon center and had nurse joy heal my Pokémon. This didn’t take long because Saur was the only one who really needed healed.
“I should probably go,” I said, “I promised my mom I would be back before midnight.”
“Ok then good luck and I’m sorry again.”
“No it’s ok just make sure to win a lot of contests with Gyra there k?”
“Ok I will, see ya around.”
With that I went up to the shoreline. I looked at the pokeball containing Milo. “I’m sorry we’ll make sure you can swim us across this soon…” I pulled another ball off my belt, “Let’s go Pidg!”
Another blinding flash revealed a Pigeotto. He ruffled his feathers and looked at me. “Ok let’s fly home.” I climbed aboard and we took off.
We rose and rose, up towards the clouds and we started to glide. Up here we had no worry of being attacked by any Pokémon because anyone cruising at this height really aren’t looking for a fight.
The flight was less smooth than expected. There was a lot of turbulence and I had to hold on pretty tight to stay on. After almost 30 minutes of flying we could see a large cloud ahead. Every couple minutes you could see a large flash streak through the cloud. “Crap…” I whispered. I could see that there was no way we could go around it and it was coming towards us faster than we could fly away from it. “We have to try to fly through it, we don’t have another choice,” Pidg looked up at me worried. I patted her back and whispered, “don’t worry lets fly lower and try to stay out of the stronger winds.”
We got lower and lower until we were only 100ft above the water. “This is low enough let’s just go straight forwards and hope this goes smoothly.
Well it went anything but smoothly. High winds whipped us around, rain pelted us, and lightning struck too close for comfort. I ended up sending out Gardy, my Kirlia, and had her put up a barrier to block the rain. This helped a lot but the wind still pushed us around while we were flying and we soon found out that it couldn’t stop our last problem either.
All I saw was a flash of light and I heard a loud buzzing in my ears. It sounded like a radio lost its station. I opened my eyes and saw the sea coming up fast. I could see Gardy and Pidg falling alongside me. The wind was flying past me, if I didn’t think I was about to die it would have been kinda fun. The water was getting closer and closer and I was preparing for impact. I used to think that water would have been a decently soft landing, but it felt more like a block of concrete than a pile of pillows. It was eerily calm under the water I could see my Pokémon close to me so I returned them and swam to the surface. I broke the surface and I could see an island close by. I swam the hardest I have every swam before and was gaining little ground.
I realized this wasn’t going to work; I decided to try and see how strong Feebass has gotten even though she didn’t evolve. “Come on out let’s see how tough you’ve gotten!” The small, rather ugly fish, appeared and I grabbed onto her and she started swimming as hard as she could. We didn’t move fast, but we moved fast but we made progress. The waves were hard to fight but Milo kept fighting. A big wave roared up behind us and we both braced for impact. The wave picked us up and literally threw us onto the beach. I laid there for a second looking at Milo, “Thank you, you did great.” I returned her to the pokeball and stood up. The wind was still intense and the rain was hurting as it hit my skin. I needed to get shelter.
There was a large mountain at the center of the island and it was pick pocketed with caves. I walked upwards and found a nice looking cave with shelter. I walked in and sent out Monkeyman to provide some light. It was you average cave, dark, dreary, scary, dark, you know the normal. I kept walking downwards until we reached the end. While I was walking I pulled out my cell phone; it was completely fried. This thing won’t be any good for me anytime soon. After a bit more walking we found a good spot, I sent out Saur, and Rai keeping the others in the ball so they could rest.
“Ok guys we’re gonna wait out the storm and have Milo pull me tomorrow back home. Were just gonna set up camp here. Well I’m sure we’ll be fine but we have to keep one person awake to keep watch for anything that may come in the middle of the night; let’s say hour shifts ok? Monkeyman you’ll take first watch ok?” He nodded and I rolled out my sleeping bag and fell asleep.
I wasn’t out for long I woke up with a wet feeling. Did I really just wet the bed? I thought I woke up to find myself in a big puddle. Monkeyman had fallen asleep during the shift and water started to run down from outside to fill up our cave. I started to hurry out of the cavern while more and more water was running down past my feet. I got to the entrance to find that the ocean had risen to the entrance of the cave. I guess we didn’t go high enough on the mountain. We climbed up higher and higher and I got to the top of the mountain. There was another cave that didn’t run downwards. So we went inside a little bit and fell asleep, not worrying about watches or anything I just wanted to sleep.
I woke up in the morning to a sun rise that was quite beautiful. This got me thinking that today was going to be a better day than yesterday. It defiantly didn’t start off better. All of my Pokémon were still asleep so I left them alone for a little. As soon as I stepped outside I heard a small squeak. I walked across the soaked ground to see a rustle in a small bush. I slowly pulled apart the leaves to see a small purple animal. It seemed to have its foot stuck in some deep mud that it sunk too deep in. It looked up at me in a scared puppy dog look I couldn’t refuse. Slowly I reached down and plucked it out of the mud. It smiles wide at me while I placed it on the ground, but then I was encountered by a completely different sound. A large roar emitted from me left and I turned to see a Kangaskhan bearing down on me. “AH CRAP!” I screamed and started running past the cave yelling to my Pokémon. They all came out and started running with me. I returned them all and I kept running. I turned to look at how much leeway I had just to turn back around and see a cliff close approaching. I stopped as fast as I could and looked over the cliff and it looked like about a 50ft drop into shallow water that was littered with sharp rocks.
I had to make a decision, jump and risk it with hitting rocks, or stay and risk it with the Kangaskhan. Remember that feeling I said about falling earlier? Yea sometime I need to get a chance to enjoy the fall instead of falling to my death. The impact of the water was better than last time but it was still very painful. I got lucky and I slowed down enough in the water to not break my legs when I hit the bottom. I swam back to the surface and looked up and saw the Kangaskhan look over the edge, turn and walk away.
I decided now was better than never to send out Milo and start the trip. I grabbed onto the small fish and she started swimming. She was doing better than yesterday and we swam out away from the island. Once we got into the open waters I could feel the current grab us and start to pull us in the correct direction. We actually were moving pretty smoothly with no issues, but every time I say this something happens. A dark shadow appeared below us and knocked us into the air. When I landed back in the water I saw that it was the Tentacrule again. It even had the large cuts in its dome. It must be back for revenge and saw I wasn’t riding with Gyra anymore. I gotta hope my guys can fight in the water…
“Let’s go Saur use razor leaf!” I yelled as I sent the dependable Lizard again. But Tentacrule wasn’t being caught off guard again. He charged in before Saur had a chance to move and knocked him flying. He skipped across the water when he landed and started to sink. “Oh no return Saur!”
Crap now I have a problem… I can’t send anyone out they will get hit before they can move. All I have is Milo and he isn’t that strong. Let’s hope that special training did more than make her look better.
“Ok Milo it is up to you. Take out that guy! Use tackle!” She charged up and charged into the Tentacrule and quickly got slapped aside. He recovered quickly and stared back at me looking scared.
“Milo use anything that you learned at Erica’s! Any moves she taught you! Try it now!”
Milo sat there for a second and nodded. She started to jump up in the air taunting the giant monster before it. The Jellyfish charged her and she dodged. This repeated several times until Tentacrule was getting very angry. He reared back and it seemed like this was what Milo was waiting for. He fired a volley of poison spines that landed right on target. Milo took the hit but seemed ready. In fact she started glowing and the spines flew back at Tentacrule and hit him hard. He fell backwards and was totally unprepared for a small flying fish to nail it with a tackle. He retaliated with its tentacles but then Milo used flail. I’ve never seen a flail so flaily. Long story short, Tentacrule ended up a large floating piece of jelly in the water.
I guess I should take advantage of the situation… “Pokeball go!”
The ball hit him and it barley shook, and it dinged with the successful sound of a capture. It immediately teleported away to Oaks ranch. I started to wonder why the ball could teleport and we couldn’t. I turned to Milo to see a look of utter joy on her face. She swam up to me and it looked like she was changing colors. I rubbed my eyes and she had completely change from her original color to red, blue, and peach. Her body started to elongate and her tail fanned out. Her face elongated and her eyebrows and two extensions came out of her head. She had evolved! The look of joy on her face was amazing! She ran up and immediately rapper her body around me and squeezed too tight. She didn’t realize it until I started to turn purple.
After a bit more celebrating I jumped back on her back and we rode straight back to Pallet town with the simplest part of this trip.
