Can you put out a restored pokemon such as archen at the very beginning of the game? Do they count as basic pokemon? for example could they damage pyroar?

RE: Restored pokemon

This has been covered in the FAQ we have, the link for which is just above the threads for this section of the forum.

I have copied the text from there:
Q. How do the new Fossil cards and Restored Pokemon work, anyway?
A. Restored Pokemon can only be placed on the Bench with the effect of the respective Fossil card (e.g. Tirtouga -> Cover Fossil); you cannot play the Restored Pokemon from your hand onto your Bench. When you play the Fossil card, you do as it says - look at the bottom 7 cards of your deck. If you do find the Restored Pokemon there, you may play it directly onto your Bench. If you do not, the Fossil Item card ends without effect and you shuffle your deck, then discard the Fossil Item card.

As for if they count as a Basic Pokémon, I don't believe they do, but I could be wrong there.
