Ruling Reference cards

I'm sure this has been posted, but using the search box using the tapatalk app yielded no results. As I've read, you must use a reference card for older base set stuff. As I'm just now getting back in the swing id love to use some of my base set cards I've used ten years ago now. Now as for reference cards, do I need a physical card to show? Or is a print out on to use? Is there a list of what requires a reference? And what can and can't be used in a tournament? I like to keep my decks tournament legal to avoid having to switch things out. Also, is double energy still legal? It's supposed to be one card that is used as two colorless energies. I may have other questions as well but they have escaped my mind at this time. I'd love to leave this thread open or at least have someone very knowledgeable who I can message back and forth to avoid cluttering the forum.

Edit: So basically, charizard from base set is no good along with all pokemon from base set? Rules have changed quite a bit since my time in the league (do they still have the pokemon league?) and errata? Sorry if I sound noobish, I just didn't have these issues arise years ago when I did this daily.

1. Either physical or printed copies of a reference should be fine, but final say belongs to the Head Judge.

2. I don't think that there is an official list, but I believe someone made a thread about this topic some time ago. (when/if I find it I will edit my post with a link)

3. The current tournament format is Black & White and on; meaning the sets from BW to PS (Black & White, Emerging Powers, Noble Victories, Next Destinies, Dark Explorers, Dragons Exalted, Boundaries Crossed and Plasma Storm) (although Plasma Storm isn't officially tournament legal until Feb. 6th) Everything below the BW base can't be used in tournaments, unless it has been reprinted For example, you may still use Pokedex because it was reprinted in BW. (however, keep in mind that all Promo Cards from BW-on are still legal)

4. Yes, Double Colorless Energy is still legal.

Actually, printed copies of the card are not acceptable as references. You need a physical copy.
As for what does and does not need a reference...there actually is a list! It's somewhere and I can't find it...

Never mind, I found it! http://assets16.pokemon.com/assets/cms/pdf/op/tournaments/2012/2012_modified_legal_reprints.pdf
It's outdated, though, and only goes up to the HS-on format. I'm going to try and find one that's current to BW-on, but here are the cards you need to be aware of:

~Potion, PlusPower, Great Ball, and Rare Candy all received errata and do NOT need references (but you still need to play them with the latest printing...and a reference wouldn't hurt)
~EXP. All from EX FRLG can be played in a deck, but an EXP. Share reference is required
~Energy Retrieval and Revive also need references
~Switch and Pokedex do not need references as they have been unchanged from day 1

To answer your edit:

If the card hasn't been reprinted in a Modified-Legal set (which, right now, is Black&White and newer), then no, you cannot use it. The last time that Charizard was printed was in DP Stormfront, which is not a tourney-legal set. The Charizard from Boundaries Crossed is legal, but that's clearly a different Charizard.

Leagues do still exist. If you want to find one, check here. They are generally very accommodating to older players trying to get back into the swing of things - because there's many of them.
