hi everyone,
can you evolve for the first turn if you are using trainer cards that make you evolve or pokepower / pokebody? like using wallys training, rare candy, and pokepowers like eevee UF energy evolution.
thanks...:D

then, why the rules says you cant evolve for the first turn, is that only applicable for simple evolution, without any other supports?

Yep. The only kind of evolution prevented on a player's first turn is the normal method you described (i.e. Combusken played from hand onto Torchic).

The golden rule for virtually any card game is that the cards overwrite the rules. A normal evolution is one that is played from your hand. Evolving via a Trainer, Poke-Power/Body, or any other effect is not considered a Normal Evolution because the effect of the card you are using calls for the evolution. That's why several people run Wally's Training instead of Prof. Elm's Training Method, due to the Rare Candy effect it has.

another question, if a condition says for example " if ditto is the active pokemon " , can it work on the bench? as if bench pokemon are also considered as active pokemon?

Of course not. If Ditto is on the Bench, he isn't the Active Pokémon - he's on the Bench. :p If a power states that the user must be your Active Pokémon, you can NOT use it if that Pokémon is on your Bench.

Pokémon on the Bench are referred to as "Benched Pokémon." The Pokémon up front doing the attacking is referred to as your "Active Pokémon."

Your opponent's Active Pokémon is called the "Defending Pokémon."
