PS2 CD drive

my friend's PS2's CD drive won't spin the CD anymore, I wondering if this ever happened to you guys before, and how to fix it.
edit: It is the older model of the PS2.

Does he have a chip or something? Else, does he has a guarantee (don't know how to spell it)? If so, go on sony and they'll fix it.
However, never happened to me before (and I am proud PS2 'n' PS1 owner)!

Umm... that happened to me once. I took it back to the gamestop that I bought it from, and they fixed it. Make sure you have the receipt (I'm a proud wii,PS2, and PS3 owner! )
