Ok i'm a bit embarased asking this but I want to know. I got train-tracks on the lower set of my teeth yesterday, and I have a couple of questions. Here they are:
1. Can you eat chocolate ok with them on?
2. Do you have to spend ages each night and morning brushing your teeth?

And please dont take this as a joke, ok?

And you can talk about braces here if you want as well

Good thing you have uncle Zilla here to help you out.

I've been going through numerous sets of braces and retainers and my last encounter with braces was a full set. Top and bottom. At first, I thought life was going to be just awful (30 min brushing teeth, certain foods you can't eat) but it wasn't. The truth is, a thorough brushing will almost always do the job necessary for keeping your teeth and braces clean. Even the areas around the brackets. That is not to say you won't have to do periodic flossing and mouth washing every now and then. The real fear is not brushing at all or eating lots of sweets and other treats that cause your "toofies" to deteriorate.

As for the chocolate, yes you can eat chocolate. BUT... only if you suck on it I believe. I don't eat chocolate or other candies much but whenever I did and had braces, I discovered that sucking on them and keeping them off your teeth while eating (using your tongue to mash it on the roof of your mouth) worked quite nicely.

Hope I've assisted you in any way. :] I'll be glad to answer any more questions you have.

P.S. I'm currently on my third (or is it fourth?...) retainer though I only have to wear it at night.

Ok well Uncle Zilla has the moral approach on it, but Uncle Mk is here to tell you the bad stuff:p

Well, in all honesty, after a while, maybe a month with braces. I ate whatever I wanted to. I ate popcorn, chocolate the only thing i really stayed away from was taffy and starbursts. I to have had braces in multiple times and am about to get another full set (gah, impressions are the worst of the whole expeirence so be glad you have those over with) I occasionally had gum, but not often, since its not too sticky. You will be able to each Chocolate, just don't really chomp down on it, bite it carefully, you might want to break it up depending on the thickness but by all means enjoy. I have never broke one bracket so i have a good reputation:p Don't worry, your life isn't over.

Thanks you guys, I'll need all the help I can get with my my brace and especialy because I'm getting braces on the upper set of my teeth in June:(

I ate everything to. ;p I learned how to eat things with minimal contact on my braces and teeth. I wonder if I can still do that...

Out of curiosity, does it hurt to have them inserted?

I wanna know too, does it hurt?

Oh my God, let me tell you. Can you imagine what having needles tipped with acid shoved up your gums feels like? Neither can I because getting braces put on hardly hurts at all. :)

lol Thank you,i thought they hurt badly but i guess not.

yeah i have tons of crooked teeth so i will 99 to 1 be getting braces in a year or so. i hate having crooked teeth and stuff

Don't worry braces don't hut that bad being put on, but the worst part of the whole expierence is the impressions (they make a mold of your mouth) I am a huge gagger, so maybe its just me. And not to scare you, I throw up when the give them to me -__-

1. Yes, but do it sparingly
2. Depends on if you're a freak with brushing.

I've had them on for going on two years, so you can ask me anything.

Doesn't hurt to get them on, I believe the same for getting them off. The mold was the worst part though, gl with that. I have them on top and bottom too.

dmaster out.

1. Just make sure it is not too hard.
2. Brush well but not for ever. If you don't brush well you will have white spots surrounded by yellow when you get them off( No whitening will not work.

I have braces at thie moment. I eat whatever whenever.

I have only had them for like 3 weeks. :p

I have had them for almost 2 years, so you can also ask me about that :F
1 Yes but not too often
2 Nah, you only have to brush them for some time, and then if you can, brush with a smaller brush.
About if they hurt. They hurt a little for the first days, but you even don,t feel them in a little time :F
:F

Hey out of interest what colour did you get on your braces? I got light blue

Uncle Bacon's advice: Do not eat noodles.
