Paul ( Ash's new rival)

Compared to the way Gary used to treat Ash when Ash first started his journey. Why does Paul make fun of the way he battles? Like in "When Pokemon Worlds Collide".:)

Paul just thinks that he's the best there is, and anyone who even tries to be better, he thinks is a pitiful trainer. Or, Paul just might be a little jealous of Ash....
 
I think that Paul is pretty good but is EXTREMELY selfish. He just wants to win battles. He is a very strong rival but I believe that Ash will beat him like Ash beat Gary.
 
Ill have to go with Eevee_master gary was better and was a Pimp

Gary was his best rival ever and a rival that releases Pokemon is not a good trainer so I think Paul will be his worst rival since he battled with Gary. Until I see Paul change his attitude tward Ash and the way he battles then I will like him a bit better. I know Gary was that way sort of at the start but he finally grew to like Ash so I think Paul needs to have a better attitude tward Ash because so far he is not very good but his Pokemon are good. I will give credit for that but he needs a quick fix to the way he treats Ash.:)
 
I also think paul is short. I was watching that episode and I said to myself "Wow, hes really short.
 
Yeah he is and he has a stubborn strak too. He does need to get a better handle on his attitude tward Ash though because so far he is not that good.:)
 
Ash lost because he Chose the wrong Pokemon for the battle he should have used a fire type since it does a 1 againtst electric type Pokemon.:)
 
I like Paul.

He is polite, as shown in the episode when he stomps Ash when Paul thanks Professor Rowan for allowing him to battle on his property.

He obviously must be skilled if he can hold his own against Ash, who has been traveling for a long time. Paul probably makes fun of him because of the mistakes he made during their battle..

Paul doesn't abuse his Pokemon. Rather than punish them for not living up to his expectations, he releases them back into the wild, a far more humane choice if you ask me.

I hope Paul's character gets a chance to develop greatly and we get to learn a lot about him and why he acts the way he does.
 
I like him too. He's almost the only "mean" person there is in Pokemon. (aside from Cassidy and Botch :))
 
Paul really gets me into the show
come one he's always talking bad about ash
and how pathetic he is
It just gets me fired up and wants ash to pullverize him
but Gary was pretty cool when he had that tan cape ( in johto ) and he had umbreon and tryanitar ( I think )
 
I feel the same way Lucario4ever. I just want to destroy him but he is only a character. I would be so funny If paul chose Chimchar again and Ash goes"Oh its chimchar again. Go Charzard." I would be laughing my but off.(Ewww)
 
I don't get it. Personally I think Paul is way better than Ash and just has a different approach towards pokemon. I mean, if I caught 3 starlys and one of them knew ariel ace, I'd totally ditch the others. Paul really deffies the whole anime concept to "be the pokemon master by keeping a crummy pikachu" Paul's the best thing in anime if you as me. I hope ash loses to him in the champs.
 
So far Pauls attitude is not good but Pimpwalkin Mateo Johnson does have a Point about some kindness but I think he just did that to put more pressure on Ash. See the more preesure he puts on Ash means it makes him want to pound him in the ground and Ash will win if he uses the right Pokemon but it will takes some time because without Misty there to help him he is not doing so good and with Misty there Ash would do better. Man I wish she was still apart of the anime.:)

I would bet money that Ash would get too overconfident and end up getting owned. Again. And if he fainted, Elekid would beat the tar out of Charizard.
 
Paul has the attutide to live up as a rival, reminds me of the rival from G/S/C, execpt the rival in those games was evil to the MAX ! But, Pimpwalkin' Mateo Johnson does have a point, at least Paul was POILTE for using Prof. Rovan's property. I would like to see his character at the end of the season and see how he's changed. I like Paul beacuse he adds the spice to the abttle and makes Ash batle harder. I can't stand Gary. I still think he's a snob, stuck-up grandson of a famous Pokemon professor
