So i just recently started getting into pokemon tcg and dont have the most of knowledge of deck building and cards quite yet. I used to play a decent amount of magic and other card games so I have a decent understanding of what I'm doing, but I thought I would post my very first deck that I constructed to see what more experienced players thought of it or have any other suggestions for it.

Pokemon- 14
-4x Sandlits
-2x Salazzle GX
-2x Salazzle
-2x Drampa GX
-2x Ho-Oh GX
-1x Tapu Lele
-1x Oranguru

Trainers- 32
-1x Bridget
-1x Acerola
-2x Kiawe
-2x Sycamore
-4x N
-4x Guzma
-1x Rescue Stretcher
-2x Float Stone
-3x Max Elixer
-2x Field Blowers
-3x Choice Band
-4x Ultra Ball
-3x Po Town

Energy- 14
-2x Double Colourless
-12x Fire energy

So the idea Im sure you can see is to rush out the gate with Ho-Oh and kiawe with a choice band to dish out a quick 180 dmg to none gx and 210 to gx's with Salazzle's hot poison for a additional 30 dmg. Same idea with having Drampa in the deck it gives me another option to deal big damage with a little less energy with Po Town activating berserk and of course his gx move isn't terrible either. Then of course Salazzle gx end game.

If you have other opinions or suggestions please let me know, this is my first build and my first deck so all suggestions and opinions are welcome. Thx.

Welcome to the Pokemon TCG!

If you have the money, I'd replace Oranguru with another Tapu Lele. It's great card.

In a deck that has some focus on Ho-Oh GX, I'd find a way to squeeze in another Kiawe or two.

Professor Sycamore is another great card and I'd put one or two more if I were you.

I'd also take out the Acerola just because with all three of the Pokemon your deck is centered around it's gonna be a pain setting them all back up.

You can also take out one Guzma. Most decks run three and it'll allow more room for cards I've suggested.

This is a pretty decent first deck. I'd suggest playing around with this deck for a while while learning the TCG as well. Once you feel comfortable look up some deck lists that others have made, try those out, and see what you like.

Hope this helps.

thanks for the suggestions. I went only 1 tapu lele to be a little bit of a money saver since they are so expensive.

I was thinking if I wanted to run 2 or 3 kiawe's i chose 2 just cuz my thought was if i used 2 already the 3rd would prob b a wasted card draw or putting me at a dangerous spot of low energy, but i think ill try it with three since the deck is really reliant on either ho-oh or drampa to do damage early and fast energy draw and placement is so good.

acerola i could probably take out, I had 4 guzmas just cuz I feel now that lysandre is out of standard it would help a lot with reacting to opponents guzma's and also having it in case i have a choice band on a active instead of a float stone and really want to move it to bench without having to waste so much energy, I'll probably try it a few times with 4 and 3 and see what I find best.

thanks again for the suggestions, always nice to see a different view of the deck and what could be improved in others eyes.

So, apparently Salazzle is a really good deck, you made a good choice for your first deck. Welcome, by the way. My friend runs Salazzle GX as well. But he uses:
4 Salazzle GX
And
3 Lurantis PROMO
The promo Lurantis get your 110 up to a 180 with two Lurantis and a Choice Band. Say the word if you want his list.
I'd scratch off Both Drampa and all Ho-Oh and all Kiawe as, don't get me wrong, they are really good cards, but they aren't necessary. Maybe a Ho Oh. But Salazzle GX doesn't need 4 Energy. If you go the Promo Lurantis route, you really don't need those Pokémon. Try Ho-Oh if you want, but I suggest not. Also, it would be beneficial for you to play Steam Seige Volcanion (Baby) and Scorched Earth. Volcanion accelerates energy, and Scorched Earth gets cards. If you take my friends route, also cut DCE.
Hope my bombardment of stuff helped.
And Lord Goomy welcomes you.

Interesting list, I would say cut Drampa and Oranguru, and replace them with 2 volcanions, and if you can find room add in Lurantis (Sunny Day: SUM Promo) as for each Lurantis in play Salazzle GX does 20 more damage, which is good for it's second attack.

Here's a fairly good build, for a first 2018 competitive deck, the plus's for the deck are easily for its early or late game advantage. I love to love your idea for a Sallazle rouge, if chosen! :D

Good Luck- AFEX

I completely forgot Lurantis Promo existed, that would be great in this deck. I do also agree that dropping out the Ho-Oh is an idea.
I think the Drampa should stay as I do think it's a pretty solid secondary attacker to this deck, and Salazzle can get damaged from Po Town so Drampa can use Berserk.

Also I read thru the list too quickly and didn't realize you were playing two Salazzle GX and two regular. I'd definitely replace the two regular for two more of the GX, i believe they're pretty cheap.
