Hey,

it is possible to modify the sun and moon theme decks to make them a little more competitive? I currently have the Steel Sun, and mainly have cards from both Sun and Moon sets. Or is it possible to make a decent deck just from the two sets with added cards from the recent EX box sets? any help would be great.

thank you

For the most part you're not going to get very far modifying theme decks, you're basically going to pull the one or two lines of cards worth playing out (in Steel Sun this is the Solgaleo line) then build a deck around them. The supporter lineups are generally very thin and use pretty bad supporters compared to what is normally used in competitive play.

I agree with Kietharr. but if you still want to improve your deck. lower the count of pokemon and energy cards.
approx. 15 20 pokemon cards and maybe 10 or so energy cards. The rest should be trainer and supporter cards. you will need to decide what pokemon you would like to run... if you choose metang... then just go with it. but whatever you choose, likely increase the count to 3 or 4. see what you can do to supplement the draw support. ultraballs. sycamore, supporters. anything that will let you move more cards thru your hand each turn. this will "help" to get a theme deck more competitive. it still won't likely be able to beat a skilled player or a top tier deck. but you might steal a game or two once in awhile...
