Modern versions of old cards

As far as playing goes, I have only ever played the tgc with the classic rules and only use base-team rocket set-wise. Obviously this means I have a LOT of catching up to do. Anyhow, I was just wondering if we could maybe come up of a list with the modern equivalents of the old trainers? So basically say which newer trainer cards do the same job as the old trainers.

Way different. Scoop Up is a non-suppporter, picks up anything, makes you flip.

Briney you don't get EXs, you don't have to flip, a Supporter.

Plus they were both in the same set I think...FR/LG? I can't remember :[

Arcanine out.

Most of the new cards are supporters and can only be played once per turn, so almost all of the newer cards aren't as good as the old ones.

  • Bill = Island Hermit/Mary's Request/Professor Cozmo's Discovery.
  • Challenge! = (as far as what you get out of the deal) Holon Mentor/Lanette's Net Search.
  • Computer Search = Holon Transceiver. (But only for Holon trainers.)
  • Defender = Buffer Piece.
  • Energy Removal = Energy Removal 2.
  • Energy Retrieval = Mr. Stone's Project.
  • Energy Search = Energy Search.
  • Full Heal = Double Full Heal/Lum Berry.
  • Goop Gas Attack = Cessation Crystal.
  • Gust of Wind = Pokemon Reversal.
  • Item Finder = Holon Transceiver.
  • Maintenance = Bill's Maintenance.
  • Mysterious Fossil = Mysterious Fossil/Root Fossil/Claw Fossil.
  • Nightly Garbage Run = Energy Charge/Energy Recycle System/Holon Farmer.
  • PlusPower = Pluspower (in the new D/P set) Solid Rage/Strength Charm.
  • Poke Ball = Poke Ball.
  • Pokemon Breeder = Rare Candy.
  • Pokemon Trader = (as far as the results go) Celio's Network/Professor Elm's Training Method.
  • PokeNav = Pokedex
  • Potion = Potion/Oran Berry.
  • Professor Oak = Copycat/Professor Oak's Reasearch. (None of these are as good as Professor Oak.)
  • Scoop Up = Mr. Briney's Compassion/Super Scoop Up.
  • Sprout Tower = Drake's Stadium.
  • Super Potion = Sitrus Berry.
  • Switch = Switch/Warp Point.

Those are the ones that I can find.
