Help Mewtwo & mew GX clarification

How does mew mew's attack work? If it says it must have the necessary energy to use the attack does that mean it only needs to have the correct amount of energy or does it also need the same typing to use the attack? And if I use a rainbow energy with mew mew can I get the ability of Cobalion GX by declaring it as 1 of every energy thus having a metal energy? Thanks for the help

No it doesn’t need to be the same type to attack but it needs the same energy cost eg Zoroark GX you need 2 colorless so you would need to attach 2 of any type however if you want to use a attack that needs colored energy you need to fulfill the same energy cost and I think you can use cobalians ability unless it specifically states basic metal energy

1. Yes, you need the correct type of energy. For a similar ruling from the Compendium:

Copy Anything (Ditto - Detective Pikachu)
Q. If I use Ditto's "Copy Anything" attack to copy one of my opponent's Tag Team GX attacks with a bonus effect for extra energy attached, do you count the extra energy starting at Energy #2, or after you take into account the "necessary Energy to use that attack"? For example, if it copies Pikachu & Zekrom GX's "Tag Bolt GX" attack, does it need 6 {L} attached or just 4 in order to get the bonus effect?
A. You count based on the required energy that normally has to be attached for the attack. So for Tag Bolt GX, Ditto would need 6 {L} energy attached to get the bonus effect. (Apr 18, 2019 TPCi Rules Team)

2. This Cobalion (GX)?

Each of your Pokémon that has any Metal Energy attached to it can't be affected by any Special Conditions. Remove any Special Conditions affecting those Pokémon.

If so, then yes, it counts as metal (and all types) at once - see rulings like this one from the Compendium:

Q. What happens if I attach a Rainbow Energy to Roserade with the "Energy Signal" Poke-POWER? Do I get to use both effects?
