Here is one for those of you that are familiar with the Mega Man series...

Apparently, Mega Man 9 is going to be released on all three consoles as a game you can download online. It has been a long time since they released the previous Mega Man classic game, which would be Mega Man and Bass for the GBA.

These are the robot masters that they will have:

Magma Man
Galaxy Man
Jewel Man
Concrete Man
Hornet Man
Plug Man
Tornado Man
Splash Woman (No joke, apparently)

The most interesting thing about the game for me is that instead of keeping the graphics from Megaman and Bass or updating the graphics, they decided to go back to 8-bit graphics and audio, factoring nostalgia into the equation.

I am very excited about this. It feels like gaming these days has been focusing too much on 3D games, usually First Person Shooters. I miss the days where I could sit down and play a simple and straightforward game with solid gameplay. As much as I enjoy the dialogue and scenes in video games that are used to advance the storyline, a lot of times, I just want to have more uninterrupted gameplay.

I think what has happened is that video game companies are reasoning that if they do not use the fullest capabilities of the console, then the game will not sell well. However, if they just focus on making an enjoyable video game where having fun is the biggest priority and graphics / sound / storyline aren't as important, they could release more games. How many of you have wanted to go back and play older games like Super Metroid, Mega Man X, Super Mario Bros 3, Pokémon Gold and Silver, Kirby Super Star, Final Fantasy (before the transition to the PS)? Just because they don't have the graphics that newer video games have, does that mean that they are not fun anymore?

Anyway, I will get this game when it comes out on WiiWare.

News Source: The Mega Man Network. This includes screenshots from Nintendo Power. You can also find more information on the main page.

I saw this article also. According to the article it is supposed to have old school play format like the NES games and it is supposed to have the same side scroller action to the games as the NES series did. If I had a Wii I probably would be getting it from Wiiware when it does come out.:)

This game looks amazing! I cant wait the music is glorious the levels look just like levels from 2 and 3! It just looks... wow.... AMAZING! Im downloading this right when its on for wiiware.

Old news. I knew this a few weeks ago. There is a trailer that you can watch on Ign.com and other places. IMO, it's a little too retro. I don't think it's at E3 this year, otherwise I would've seen direct feed gameplay footage...

dmaster out.

It looks pretty sweet though. MM II was the best game ever made. They will try to make it like that one.:)

I've never really like the MegaMan series overall.
I've played a Rom of Battle Network 1&6 being curios of what they are like, but overall I didn't exactly enjoy them...

I saw the interview on livewire and some other stuff. I really liked 1 and 2, hard as they might have been, and it'll be great to have that old retro-like feel but in a completely new game.

People who aren't really fans of the old franchise probably won't buy this, but whatever, it looks cool.

And the bit they mentioned about possible costume changes sounds exiting.

maybe this game will influence other games so maybe a new retro mario?(sounds kind of stupid to me) or....Metroid Prime (bring back the 2-d scroller) and that's all i can think of for now.

They have already done it for Mario, to a limited extent, with New Super Mario Bros, and a remake of the original Metroid through Metroid: Zero Mission on the GBA. However, I wish there were 2-D platformers overall. With the technology we have, instead of re-making Super Mario Bros. 3 with all 8 worlds, it should be easier to make a video game on the more advanced systems that have, say 16 or 24 worlds. Who is to say that would not be possible?

Also, it would be nice if they made a new side-scrolling Zelda game like what Zelda 2 was on the NES. I liked the fairly unique gameplay elements it had. Super Paper Mario is actually remotely similar to that, since you become stronger by fighting more enemies.

It will be very interesting to see what comes out of Mega Man 9, and if future Mega Man games of this type would be released like this. I would be absolutely ecstatic if they released a Mega Man X game that went back to the SNES style.

Those who have never played Mega Man when it first started may not know about his previous bouts with Dr. Wily like me, you and others like us know Mega Man. He started in 1989 in Mega Man 1. and in a few days it was a hit. It was like the way Pokemon is now and it was that popular for awhile but when the other spinoff versions came out it slowly deminished and did not become that popular. I think this game will introduce new fans to his old style so the new fans can see what it was like almost 20 years ago. Once the new fans see what it was like now then they will be hooked because it was a great series until the spinoff versions came out.:)
