Strategy

  • Go first
  • Evolve (multiple) Alakazam-EX into M Alakazam-EX to activate the Kinesis ability and deal damage using Zen Force
    • Kinesis Benched Pokémon damage counter distribution when followed by Zen Force
      • Shaymin-EX: HP 110 = 1 Kinesis + Zen Force = 3 damage counters + 90 damage = 120
      • most Pokémon-EX = 2 Kinesis + Zen Force = 6 damage counters + 180 damage = 240
  • Use Devolution Spray to devolve Mega Alakazam-EX and Mega evolve another Alakazam-EX
  • Use Ninja Boy if Hoopa-EX or Shaymin-EX is your starting Active Pokémon and search for an Alakazam-EX (attach Energy or Alakazam Spirit Link anyway, if possible)
 
Garbodor stops Mega Alakazam cold and without any Tool removal in the format this deck is completely unviable. Mega Alakazam's base damage output is also far too low to really do anything about it. Your only hope is to evolve the turn after they bench Trubbish, as targeting it with Kinesis will allow you to KO it with Zen Force. You're a sitting duck until you get the Lysandre though. Consider adding Absol ROS to help move damage to Garbodor if evolving on the same turn is not feasible.
 
Very good points. I think Absol ROS 40 would be a great addition.

Part of my goal is to give non-competitive decks a spotlight so even with Garbodor, with the right cards and strategy, each deck has a shot. You are right, with a combination of beating your opponent before allowing him to attach a tool to Garbodor and Lysandre for KO is the most efficient way.
