OU: Strategy How Would the Metagame be Different if...?

It still would have to deal with frail defenses and very lackluster offenses.

651 HP / 127 Def / 96 SpD are really bad defenses, not to mention it's slow. If you're still thinking Wonder Guard, it still doesn't work that well because Knock Off is on like 90% of teams.

Here's something interesting. What if Altaria was Dragon/Fairy instead of Dragon/Flying? For reference, here's the new weaknesses and resistances for it.

Weak to: Fairy, Ice, Poison, Steel
Resists: Bug, Fighting, Dark, Water, Grass, Fire, Electric
Immune to: Dragon

How would the Matagame be different if you could change your Pokemon stats?
if you could switch the ATK stat with DEF stat for example?
with an item like Ability Capsule

Imagine yourself able to switch between Infernape's S.ATK state and his DEF stat

It depends on the Pokemon really; I can see Blissey would absolutely hate it, for one. (since it's only amazing stat is sp.d)
It could throw a huge curveball on some Pokemon though, possibly allowing a Pokemon to take a route never thought possible with it.

What would happen if there was a new Inverse Room move - one that reversed type match ups (akin to the Inverse Battle in X/Y)

Gems in X/Y how useful would they be?

So as we all know, from some reason there is only Normal gem in Pokemon X/Y and I was wondering
if we could use all the other type of gems including Fairy gem, how useful will they be on new pokemon
or old pokemon in this new gen?

For example :

Talonflame
@Flying gem
Ability: Gale wings
~Flare blitz
~Acrobatics
~Will-o-wisp
~Roost

That could become a regular fix on Talonflame; maybe not as common as Gale Wings BB, but having a 165 bp move with priority is going to dent anything that doesn't resist it. (and that wasn't even factoring STAB in)

It does mean it doesn't get Choice Band power which means after the first hit it isn't as threatening (even though it is still a threat).
Choice Brave Bird Gale Wings is probably one of its best sets though.
