Have a Wii? Don't update to 4.2

4.2 has no useful features- it's strictly a poor attempt to block homebrew.

However, it does update boot2- it's updating the bootloader, with untested, buggy code for that purpose. If ANYTHING goes wrong during the update, the console is bricked, and you'll need a hardware NAND programmer to fix it.

Furthermore, Nintendo is silently deleting any information on how 4.2 bricks occur on their support forums, and banning the posters in at least one case, that being mine.

In case you're wondering, this is what lead to the ban.

Actually, banning someone over it can't help this PR fiasco...

Well, as a user of Homebrew, I am quite concerned. And even if I do remove Homebrew, I'm still concerned that it will brick my Wii for no reason. So my Wii will not be turned on for quite a while.

To my knowledge, Waninkoko ( creator of most of the Custom IOS's that we, as a homebrew community, uses) is in the works in making a safe method to update to 4.2U, without losing homebrew capabilities. When it is out, expect to see a link to it in my sig.
EDIT: Found it; link in signature
