Gothitelle

I'm worse than you at TCG.

I know it is a bit weak looking, but I feel like Gothitelle has the capability for some pretty heavy damage with some relatively easy set up. Not T1, but still a fun card.

Gothitelle
Ability: As long as Gothitelle is your Active Pokémon, your opponent can't play any Goods cards from his or her hand.

{C}{C}{C} Does 30 damage plus 20 more damage for each {P} Energy attached to Gothitelle.

As some of you have noticed, this is more or less simply Slowbro HGSS reprinted. I liked this card a lot, but 90hp was just too low, and the one attack by itself wasn't making it worth playing imo. Gothitelle, on the other hand, has 130hp and prevents all goods cards from being played with its ability.

Pair this with a thin line of Ampharos which would give a steady 3 energy drop per turn for 1 lighting/rainbow energy and you have a relatively easy set up. Another option (cited here) would be Jirachi and Mismagius for at least 2, possibly more depending on if you have multiple Mismagius out.

Pair this with a Smeargle CoL start to set up the 2 stage 2s or the basic/stage1/stage2 and you have a pretty basic line:
4-3-4 Gothitelle
2-2-2 Ampharos
3 Smeargle
Pokemon: 20

Add in a few candys and the staple S/T/St.

-OR-

4-3-4 Gothitelle
3-3 Mismagius
2 Jirachi
3 Smeargle
Pokemon: 22

Staple S/T/St and some seekers maybe

The only thing I'm really worried about with this deck is not having a decent secondary attacker.

Anyways, thoughts?

If you are only focusing on the psychics, then I'd run rainbow evergy, which wouldn't hurt too much with the one damage counter drop.

What if you were to use a pokemon that switches after it attacks, and send up Gothitelle?

I can only think of Octillery UL and Granbull HGSS/CL off the top of my head, both of which aren't bad. I think Granbull + Gothitelle could be a great combination, then after Granbull's taken some damage, smash them with his second attack.

I can think of a few (Gengar AR and Seviper PL for example), although I'm not sure what will be legal next rotation and I am looking to build this for next rotation, something I forgot to clarify in the OP. Also, I can see why that would be useful, but I am really looking for some input on the best way to set it up, and the fastest.

The next rotation is going to be HGSS-on, it's already been announced. The only thing they don't know is when, July or September. You could run all the trainers you want, since it only blocks your opponent's, which means lots of rare candy and communications to get it out faster.

is there such a card pokemon99?

Attach rainbow energy to any of your pokemon... it basically works as any energy. The only drawback is that you have to place one damage counter on that pokemon. It was reprinted in unleashed? iirc?

EDIT:

HG/SS Base Set.

That said, if he's only using psychic energy, there's no point. You can't attach it with Ampharos, as when not in play, it counts as colorless.

might be good with metagross ul. charge it up with metang and free retreat to move about. could still use granbull too

Triumphant Yanmega, the one that does 50 and switches with one pokemon on bench would work

EDIT: 1000 Post WOOHOO

I haven't been on these forums in a very long time, so sorry for just coming back out of nowhere about this.

I'm just wondering why a second attacker with a free retreat/switch in the attack would be so useful. What makes that form of an attack have such great synergy with Gothitelle?

I do think that the Metagross UL idea seems pretty good and would almost make me rather have an attacker like Scolipede who is meant to be a tank and can take a hit a little better, and can be somewhat annoying at the same time.

Maybe a line along the lines of:
3-2-3 Gothitelle
1-1-1 Metagross UL
2-1-2 Scolipede
2 Shaymin
2 Jirachi
3 Cleffa
Total: 23

T/S/S
4 Collector
2 Junipers
3 Catchers
4 Candies
3 Communications
2 Seekers
2 PONT
2 PETM
1 FSL
Total: 23

Energy
12 Psychic
2 DCE
Total: 14

More or less of an edit of the post from here (http://www.pokebeach.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=96491&pid=1931287#pid1931287) but to include the metagross/scolipede. Of course these lines look thin and sporadic, so..inputs? I'm really tired so I may wake up tomorrow and realize this is a horrible idea, but right now I like it!

Metagross is pretty good, but Scoliopede is absolute garbage. You want Goth up at the active spot at all times because from what I know about playing with/against trainer locking decks, once the lock ends, even for one turn, your opponent is going to make you cry. Take the 5 spots wasted on Scoliopede for something else. Also, DCE really isn't that good in this deck because it cuts your damage down by a lot (going from hitting 90 to hitting 50 is pretty bad). I ahve to say, the list I gave you before is a pretty darn good one, but if you found different results with it and want to use Metagross, go for it.

What do you guys think about this?

23
3-2-3 Gothielle
3 Jirachi UL
2 Shaymin UL
2-1-2 Crobat Prime
1-0-1 Serperior {Ability}
4 Cleffa HS
1-1 Darkrai Cresselia Legend

26
3 Proffessor Juniper
3 PONT
2 Pokemon Collector
2 Seeker
1 Twins
1 Flower Shop Lady
3 Pokemon Communication
3 Junk Arm
2 Rare Candy
2 Switch
2 SSU
2 Lost Remover

11
9 Psychic
2 Rescue

Sorta got two Strategies running here; Starts with the obvious, lock down your Opponents Trainer - Items with Gothielle's ability, and power her up quickly with Shayrachi along with Juniper/Junk Arm to load those energy into your discard pile. Put, this is only going to slow them down, so next up theres the secondary strategy of using Crobat Prime to spread Poison damage and Snipe. Since his retreat cost is nothing, you can put the lock back on for nothing. DCL can use Moon's Invite to score you KOs, and Jirachi can also Time Hollow for KO's when combined with the above two strategies. Serperior helps you Tank with Gothielle

To be honest, I never intended this to be based around the trainer lock aspect of Gothitelle, but more of a nuke deck. When I looked into making this deck the ability referred to "goods" cards and I had no idea what they were, but now the translation I'm looking at has been changed to "item" cards which seems much more useful/disrupting. I agree that Scolipede is garbage, and I'm not gonna try to make a deck past 2am anymore, since it never ends up working well. I do however still like Metagross, although discarding to retreat wouldn't be terrible if I could just seeker up a jirachi/shaymin to get the energies back out.

I've just always had a second attacker in my decks in the past, so I might still try to find something while proxying until I can get my hands on some actual Gothitelles. Off the top of my head I'm thinking of Umbreon UD/CoL right now for some possible healing/sniping.

Minus:
2-1-2 Scolipede
0-1-0 Metagross
2 DCE
Plus:
1-1 Espeon UD/CoL
2 Junipers
2 Junk Arm
2 Psychic Energy

Espeon again is trash, it's not good at all. Drop Espeon for more consistancy cards, you want your list to be as consistant and solid as possible, especially if you're using a stage 2 lock deck.

Uhhh...this isn't your thread. If you want to post a deck make your own thread :/

Okay, I apologise, let me rephrase:

How about this for an idea, using Gothielle with Crobat Prime to slow down their setup and spread damage across their field, and then using DCL's Moon Invite to move that damage into KOs across their board. Because of being under Trainer lock, they don't get access to most of their speed, so they won't be as set up as you are (since you can use trainers) so hopefully you can get enough KOs for all 6 prizes, or clearing their field. The Shayrachi combo can be used to get all this energy down.

I've made a mock list for this idea, do you think it has the potential to be a viable variant of the Gothielle strategy once said card is released.

That was what I was trying to get across, sorry for that.

Using 2 stage twos and a Legend that have pretty much nothing in common...I don't think that it'll work. There is no synergy in the list and you aren't doing what Goth is best at, locking trainers for the WHOLE game, minus the first turn.

Fair enough, It was just a random idea that I pulled out of the air regardless. I just kept tacking on pieces to try and make a coherent deck, in a way that was similiar to Word Association. Take note; don't build decks like that :p
