Someone else posted their Yveltal/Gallade deck, so I figured I'd share mine too! The new Gallade and Yveltal make solid partners, but they work together even better with one of the new cards coming out in (hopefully!) Breakpoint. Without further ado..

Pokemon: (12)
  • 3 Yveltal EX
  • 2 Gallade
  • 2-2 Octillery
  • 1-1 Zoroark
  • 1 Shaymin EX
Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums: (4)
  • 3 Shadow Circle
  • 1 Sky Field
  • 3 VS Seeker
  • 4 Max Elixir
  • 3 Ultra Ball
  • 3 Acro Bike
  • 3 Muscle Band
  • 1 Float Stone
  • 2 Reserved Ticket
  • 2 Super Rod
  • 3 Battle Compressor
  • 2 Maxie's Hidden Ball Trick
  • 2 Professor Sycamore
  • 3 Judge
  • 1 Hex Maniac
  • 1 Lysandre
Energy: (11)
  • 4 Double Colorless Energy
  • 7 Darkness Energy
Strategy:

Okay, so Yveltal's best days were with Dark Patch, now with Max Elixir we can return to those days. So here's the breakdown
Ideal field: 2 Yveltal EX, 2 Gallade, 1 Octillery, 1 Zoroark

Gallade:
Gallade covers Yveltal's weakness pretty good, and I don't just mean type-advantage. For two energies, it can hit for what Yveltal needs six energies on the board to do. But that's not its main draw of the deck. Controlling what the top 5 cards are gives you a big leg up.

Octillery:
Draw support. It's like a Shaymin every turn you play. Drawing up until 5 cards might not seem like much, but paired with Gallade's premonition, you can try to ensure you get what you need.

Zoroark:
All of the Pokemon have a 2 retreat cost, but if you have a Zoroark with Float Stone, it's Stand In retreat is identical to Keldeo's old Rush-In retreat, but it's attack is far more useful than Keldeo's (in a dark deck). For a DCE you hit for a potential 160 damage, and there's something to be said about a 'mon that can OHKO a Mega Rayquaza.

Energy:
Looking at old deck lists, this seemed to be around standard for Dark Patch-Yveltal decks.

Max Elixir:
Max Elixir – Trainer
Item

Look at the top 6 cards of your deck. You may choose a basic Energy card you find there and attach it to 1 of your Basic Benched Pokemon. Shuffle the remaining cards back into your deck

You may play as many Item cards as you like during your turn (before your attack).

So, in a way, it's kind of an inverse Dark Patch. Instead of pulling energy from your discard pile, you pull them from your deck. Little more risky it seems, you know what's in your discard pile, but not the next six cards of your deck unless... you have Gallade. With Gallade, you always know whether or not you should play this card.

Reserved Ticket:
It's essential to get Gallade out as early as possible, which requires a Maxie's to be played. Gotta empty your hand for that, so, this card can be used to help. If you flip a tails, that's one less card you have to worry about in your hand. If you flip heads though, you're preparing yourself for Maxie's by setting up one of the five cards you'll draw into.

Judge/Shauna:
Convention is usually PBO, but I'm leaning more towards Shauna or Judge here. Shuffling is good because if Gallade tells you your next draws don't have what you need, you can just shuffle it up. Fewer cards means more utilization of Octillery. And it never hurts to disrupt the opponent a bit.

Some potential improvements I've considered:
Super Rod over Energy Recycle. Energy recycle means if too many energies end up in the discard pile, they're easy to retrieve. With Max Elixir they do me a lot more good in there. But if Zoroark, Octillery, or Yveltal ended up in there, I may run into issues.

Maintenance:
When I'm trying to empty my hand for Gallade, I may end up with cards I just don't want to lose. Max Elixirs, Octilleries, DCEs, etc. Shuffle them back in, I'm two cards lighter and hopefully a little safer.

Baby Yveltal (XY):
Pulling energies from the Discard Pile is decent acceleration. Especially if a lot end up there, you never know.

Shaymin EX:
I have a potential two to use. I'm a little torn on this little guy. My first turn is about getting cards out of my hand, not in. Then once I'm set up, I have Octillery for my draw support. I don't particularly need another bench sitter, but hey, Uxie and Claydol still played together.

Parallel City:
The elemental edge doesn't hurt me, so limiting my opponent's bench to 3 could be disruptive, but I'm not so sure it wins out over some other Stadium choices.

Okay, so there you have it. Any comments, questions, and/or suggestions are appreciated! Thank you!

there are two points i want to raise out

1. i think max elixir isn't a direct substitute of dark patch from the old days. dark patch accelerate energy from discard, but max elixir takes energy from deck, also the first 6 cards only. it means the energy count got to be high, so that the successful rate of max elixir can be increased. with only 7 basic energy in the deck is around 0.6 by my calculation. so more basic energy may needed.

2. there is a new tool card call gihting spirit belt, boosting the basic pokemon HP by 40 and attack by 10. i think Yveltal EX, along with Lugia EX, Seimestoad EX are the best user of it, over muscle band.
Just my 2 cents

Not a direct substitute, no. I agree with you there. That's why I like it with Gallade, it means you can check and make sure you'll actually get an energy if you have a Max Elixir. Or maybe you have two cards in your hand, one of them being a Max Elixir, and you want to use Octillery for its Abyssal Hand, it tells you to play Max Elixir before you draw. So forth.

Thank you for reminding me about that card! It could be really useful, giving Yveltal +40HP.
