Yes guys, this one should be epic.
Standard Brawl rules
- No items (be sure the items are set to both OFF and NONE to prevent item spawning with Dedede's Waddle Dee Toss)
- 4 stock
- no time
- best 2 out of 3
Stage Selection:
For the first round, each player chooses a stage he wants to fight on. For the first match, you may only pick from the following stages:
Battlefield
Final Destination
Lylat Cruise
Smashville
Yoshi's Island (Brawl)
Doesn't matter which one you choose. You and your opponent don't have to agree on it - just pick whichever stage you like best.
After the first match has been decided, the loser of the match gets to choose the second stage. This is done by quitting the battle menu, contacting the person you're battling and telling him which stage you will fight on. Then, the battle starts again, the 2 players pick their characters and then both players place a coin on the selected stage. The following stages are ONLY acceptable as second-match picks by the loser:
Brinstar
Castle Siege
Delfino Plaza
Distant Planet
Frigate Orpheon
Halberd
Jungle Japes
Luigi's Mansion
Pictochat
Pokémon Stadium
Pokémon Stadium 2
Rainbow Cruise
To reiterate: You may not choose a stage from this list if you are fighting your first match. The loser of the first match may, however, also pick a stage from the starting stage set (Battlefield, FD, etc.). It doesn't have to be from this second list.
If the loser of the first match wins the second match, the second match's loser gets to choose the stage for the third and final round. He chooses the stage in the same manner mentioned before, but with the following rule: He cannot choose any stage that has already been battled on.
The following stages are banned from selection. Neither player may choose to battle here at any time:
75m
Big Blue
Bridge of Eldin
Corneria
Flat Zone 2
Green Greens
Green Hill Zone
Hanenbow
Hyrule Temple
Mario Bros.
Mario Circuit
Mushroomy Kingdom 1-1
Mushroomy Kingdom 1-2
New Pork City
Norfair
Pirate Ship
Port Town Aero Dive
Rumble Falls
Shadow Moses Island
Skyworld
Spear Pillar
Summit
Yoshi's Island (Melee)
Wario Ware, Inc.
Here is an example of a pretend fight to give you guys a general idea of how stage selection works.
Player A vs Player B
First match
Player A picks Smashville
Player B picks Final Destination
Player A wins the stage select. The first match is fought on Smashville. Player A wins that fight.
Second match
Player B lost the first match, so he can choose a stage. Wanting to put his opponent at a disadvantage, he decides to pick Frigate Orpheon. He goes into the chat room and informs his opponent of his selection. Then both people go back to wifi, connect, choose their characters, and select Frigate Orpheon as the battle stage, and they do battle. As planned, Player B wins this match.
Third match
Since Player A lost, he gets to choose the stage. He can choose any stage he wants except for what's on the ban list. He is also barred from choosing Smashville (because it was fought on in the first match) or Frigate Orpheon (because it was fought on in the second match). He decides to play it safe and fight on Final Destination. This is a legal pick because it was not battled on in either two rounds (the fact that it was his opponent's first round pick is irrelevant because it was not actually battled upon). Player B wins in a shocking upset.
The score is 2-1 in Player B's favor. Player A is eliminated and Player B moves on to the next round.
I can't explain it any better than that. If you still can't understand it, well... you lose. - PMJ
