English Mega Evolution Set to Release on September 26th, But Expect Prerelease Shortages

If they really wanted to fix the problem they would delay the new sets by 2 or 3 months, but they don't care if normal people can't buy anything.

The printers are not infinite. Pokemon does not have their own printers in the west. They have to book in advance (6 months), so when these printers are clogged with reprints, there is less space for new ones. I guess finding new factories or setting them up is not as easy as people think - especially if they complain about the quality the second they get their reprint.

In Europe they use the same factories as magic for example. So these are not always free and TCG printing is different from regular printing. So they can’t just ask anyone with paper.
They bought Millennium Print Group a few years ago which are based in North Carolina and The Netherlands so they own printers in both US and EU.

This, plus Magic is having their own issues with keeping up with demand so I imagine they're just printing as much as they can and are now experiencing the consequences of having to allocate printers to do reprints

Not an enviable situation. I can’t imagine they’ll open another printing facility since hype will EVENTUALLY go down, but right now they just can’t print enough to go around.
Yep. This is my best speculation as to what's going on. They absolutely have the money to get more printing, but I think the way the company sees it is an unnecessary liability considering the hype for the cards has fluctuated on/off enough historically to not warrant taking that on.

The one thing I don't get is why have Mega Lucario and Mega Gardevoir evolve from Riolu and Kirlia respectively when they cannot skip the Lucario and Gardevoir stages respectively in the games? That literally makes no sense at all.

Because otherwise it will be too long to setup in a game.
Since ex cards are no longer basic Pokémon they had to re-adapt mega evolution to the current meta…

But i 100% share your opinion this is a really dumb mechanic lmao

Is it just me or are folks not excited enough for the new Gardy?? Perfect synchronicity with the current one the potential to be the biggest donker in the format?

Why are you concerned? Presumably they will just be basic Mega exes that are balanced for being basics by having lower HP, etc.

I completely agree, from a gameplay design standpoint it feels incredibly arbitrary and counter-intuitive. I feel it would've been unanimously better to have new megas be like Breaks and Level X's while keeping the three-prize drawback. What sense does it make for them to go from kirlia to mega gardevoir??? why should charmeleon go straight to mega charizard??? it's just not how megas work and it doesn't really do much to help make them better
