LV wrote thread named something like that: "Emulators/Roms/Simulators = Illegal". I just wanted to say ... Emulators are not illegal. Well ... I am not 100% sure about it but I think emulators really are legal. It is program that isn't breaking any rule, roms are illegal and (again) Emulators aren't.
Edit:
BTW: If you buy game and you download it, it is not illegal as well.
(You may lock it ... now ... just don't ban me :D)

...No.

Downloading an emulator basically means you're stealing the console. There's nothing else about it.
If you were to own the system and the game, I guess it would be fine (though still immoral) but who would do that?

Emulators/ROMs = Illegal. It's hard to believe that AFTER seeing LV's thread, you posted this.
MODs, please lock.

I just found that ...
"Emulators are not illegal.

If you download a ROM of a commerical game, that is illegal, and the "24-hour rule" or "48 hour rule" or whatever they want to say, is totally bogus. Its not "ok" to own for a day or two, its illegal to own in the first place.

What IS legal to own are homebrew ROMS, and ROMs you have personally ripped from your OWN console game collection.

Even if you own the game (like Super Mario 64) it is still illegal to download the ROM of it, although you can rip the ROM itself from YOUR cartridge.

If you are afraid of being prosecuted, set a car battery outside your computer. Bolt a lever switch to the top, hook a wire from the battery to the switch, from the switch to the hdd, and from the hdd back to the car battery. Then just throw the switch and electrocute your HDD :D

Better yet, do it from a wall outlet w/ an extension cord.

Magnetizing it just isn't as reliable what with the magnetic shielding and the fact that you just might not do a good enough job, and get all your data scrambled, etc."

I found it HERE
They really are legal! Look!

Actually yes they are and if you found it on a page that says that and you get caught with one you could be in serious hot water and you may end up paying a fine or send some time behind bars.:)

yes Emulators and Roms are Legal but i think its only legal in my country :s

Bcoz in my country go in any Pc CDs shop and see all CD shops they all have Cd's of gameboy advance emulator and roms and its price are normal like other cds .

Just buy the game you want because you get a warenty whereas if you download it you can't gaurntee that it works properly.:)

You're right xxashxx. And if game is good ... it is fair to pay for it ... same as with CDs. But still emulators aren't illegal.
