This really isn't anything offensive to the TO of yesterdays Battle Road since he is a great Organizer, but yesterday I got caught with something I really didn't like to see and hope to not see again in the future. Its really a gripe on the system, and I REALLY needed to vent.

I'm from Ohio, and I was at the Cuyahoga Falls BR yesterday. I wasn't doing too terrible, I took a loss to the person who would end up being the tournament winner yesterday in the 2nd round, pulled back and nearly took my 4th round match, making a clumsy error in letting a Flygon D take too much damage one turn before I would have won. I take a look at the results and I'm in a questionable position. 2-2 with one round left and the toughest opponents as my tiebreakers (They both were 3-1). I can still make top cut if I win my next game and the outcome of the next round was suited in my favor, and I know my deck is solid (I was running Feralgon yesterday which is a very underrated Flygon variant IMHO.), so I'm pretty confident I can win.

Then I see the thing I don't think anyone ever wants to see while in the running for top cut. A Bye. Someone in a favorable position, high up, getting a bye while being 2-2. I was shocked, angered, and disappointed all at once. How can the computer system be so messed up that it would screw someone with a halfway decent chance out of a top cut attempt? Not to sound rude or anything, but there's a lot of people who tie breakers automatically put them out of the running anyways, so why screw the person with the best chance?

If I had played a final round, I probably would have had a very good chance in making top cut because I would have had a final player to add to my tie breakers. Of course, in the end it didn't really matter, since there were four 4-1's. But if that hadn't happened, it could have happened. Why does the system do things like this? And has anyone else had this happen?

You were at the BR's yesterday??? I didn't see you there... of course, I don't know who you are :D :D.

What age group were you in? Senior's?

I personally hate the current system. Win is pretty fair, Opponent's Win is a good saver if it's a close call, but Opponent's Opponent's Win just doesn't make sense, it's entirely circumstantial to me and doesn't project anyone's skill, at least not directly, and it's mostly determined by the odds. Funny how at tournaments, someone always finds a reason to blame the odds. But hey, this one is a bit too obvious.
The Bye system is of course also pretty random, so that's also bad luck. But I don't think it's fair to blame that on the system. In fact, I got a few favorable win(d)s thanks to Byes, and I'm sure you will too.

Hopefully this is one of the bugs they will work out of the tournament software. I also hope we can do a little bit better this weekend.

I'm in masters. I was the really loud one running the only Flygon deck in Masters wearing a Pokemon shirt.

The one in Seniors I know came in second yesterday.

To be honest with you I hate the way BR runs in general.

I don't think 1 game is enough to determine who is the better player of the two. One game match ups depend to much on luck which I don't think is right.

For example, at my 1st battle roads ever I lost to a friend of mine who I beat every single week. He didn't make any changes at all but I just drew no energiess the entire game and he beat me when it mattered the most.

IMHO it should be best out of 3. I know this would make BR last alot longer, but they could just split it into 2 days. I would have it like this:
1) Say 32 people are playing, then 16 matchups are generated randomily.
2) Best of 3 games are played and the losers go home
3) After time runs out the winners just come back the next day or the following week to finish up

Maybe we don't have to have the losers go home in just round one but it should still take more then just a single game to determine if you get a win or a lose.
