donphan help!!

so my gf made a beastly donphan deck. it doesnt really donk as i usually get more than 1 basic, but i have the hardest time taking it down. expert belt plus its exoskeleton makes it impossible for me to do damage for two consecutive turns. she also just SSU when the donphan is heavily damaged.

i really need help in making an overall deck that can also counter a donphan. t-tar prime and umbreon doesnt work as she will just use phanphy to kill me.

any suggestions?

The best way to counter Donphan would be to just play off of its play, so Kingdra fits the bill nicely. Just set up a Kingdra prime and belt it a hit for 160. Or you could use Dialgachomp. Though the match-up isn't entirely in its favour, through stopping Donphan's body and tanking/healing and using Crobat G to poison Donphan prime, you should be able to win. Kingdra prime would ultimately be the more solid option if you're just looking for a deck to counter Donphan prime.
 
umbreon can beat it >.<
tech in umbreon MD to remove your weakness to fighting (phanpy cant 1hko you then)
and with 2 sp dark and a belt you can ohko phanpy before it hurts you

kingdra as mentioned above is also a good option
 
yes thats true, but i dont wana remake my deck specifically to counter my gf's donphan. i want a deck thats well rounded. i guess the best option would be for me to get two special dark energies onto my umbreon with a belt, as well as a umbreon ud, but thats just way too much set up.
how are steel decks in the meta game?
 
^ Last time I checked Kingdra is still a good metagame choice overall. Its just down to the techs in Kingdra that can change matchups such as luxchomp to 50/50 etc.
 
I'm poor so I use empoleon PT, but kingdra, SEL, RSL, mismagius pt lock the first attack, poliwarth/politoed UL. As for steel deck's they're not entirely fast but are effective. cya
 
My Steelix deck works really well against Donphan, Donphan has difficulty against things that just tank better and hit harder. I'll always need to send out meat shields to stall for a few turns, but after that they just can't take Steelix down. I also have a Skuntank G tech to poison it, so no problems.
