Discussion Decidueye/M Alakazam?

What do we think about a Decidueye and Mega Alakazam combo? I think this has a way to be viable in standard but I don't think I can figure out a balance. It seems like it would be very cloggee running 2-3 decidueye and 2-3 alakazams on top of 1-2 Shaymins. Do you think this is at all viable? I just want to make it work because I love running zam and the PHF crobat line in expanded.
 
HA! I just built one of these yesterday. I have the deck list (or at least a very close proxy to it) posted at the bottom of this post. It is a bit clunky. There is no getting around it. That said, it also doesn't take much to obliterate anything in the format either.

It is standard viable, but it definitely falls more into the "fun deck" IMO than a competitive deck. You can win with it. I just don't think it will win consistently.
 
Oops. Should've checked the deck garage first. Regardless, I think your decklist is pretty good. I definitely support the oranguru instead of Shaymin. Again I feel like the biggest problem is the clunkiness, so I feel like 4 of each in the decidueye line Ian a bit much. What about a 3-3-3 line and maybe +3 evosodas? I feel like evosoda could be a sweet card when paired with FOGP. It would help in the speed of the deck too, being able to get up decidueye fast and even a mega zam if the spirit link isn't down. Obviously, this presents the issue of finding a roller to start, but get a UB and an evo in your starting hand and you're golden.

Ha. I should have made a new post on it, but that one was already covering that style of deck so I figured it was a good place for it.

I did try a 4-3-3 line of Decidueye and subbed in a couple of level balls. I didn't care for it, but I was also rolling Shaymins at that point too. I could see Evosoda working, but generally what I have found is that it is unnecessary as long as you can draw fast enough which is why I have such a heavy draw supporter / get draw supporter line of trainers. I also have found that evolving M Alakazam from your hand is pretty important because the 20 on active + 30 on bench means I only need 2 Decidueye GX out in order to hit that golden 60 damage (or 50 for most EX / Megas). Evosoda eliminates that ability damage from evolving and I don't want to do that. I went back to the 4-4-4 line of Decidueye pretty quickly though, so I wouldn't say I tested it thoroughly.

Changes I think I need to make: 1x Beedrill EX. 2x Mega Turbo. Not sure what I am taking out to make those changes, but those are the ones I am looking at.

All that said, I think my list is a good place to start and I will probably try it with a couple of Evosodas just to see if that little bit of extra evolutionary search helps. Outside of not triggering Alakazam's ability, I can't think of another reason it wouldn't help :)

Edit: I also played Alakazam / Bats and while it is good, I think the Owls are better. The consistent damage plays pretty huge. Also having a second attacker that isn't Psychic weak helps a ton against several decks that are currently being run in Standard.
 
Oh, forgot about the alakazam ability condition with evosoda, would still serve a purpose but I'm not sure if it owuld still be worth it. Aside from that, the mega turbo definitely sounds beneficial and a bee drill definitely is interesting too.
 
Once field blower comes out this deck and lot of others that were hampered by Garbodor will be come more viable.
