Ok, I’m a fairly new TGC player. I’m trying to create a fairly disruptive deck that might actually help me win 1 or two at the upcoming City’s. Bottom line, need to replace out of date cards and am not quite sure which way to go. The trainers/supporters are a result of what seems to work (amulet coin) and what I have available. Legalization and strategy suggestions are sincerely welcomed.

Strategy: Speed!! Muk as major offensive (80 damage w/special cond from a Lvl 1), using Roserade to inflict special condition with energy attachment. Muk is quick to get up and running, and can do 90 damage with poison. Illumise is just help populate the bench with both Roselia and/or Bulbasaur. Venusaur will also inflict special conditions with Pokepower (but only by a dice roll). Both Roserade and Venusaur can be heavy hitters if necessary.

Pokemon - 24
3 – 4 Roserade (UL)
4 – 4 Muk (UD)
1 – Illumise (Diamond & Pearl - Great Encounters)
4 – 2 – 2 Venusaur (Diamond & Pearl—Secret Wonders)

Energy - 17
10 Grass Energy
7 Psychic Energy

Supporters/Trainers/Stadium - 19
1 – Burned Tower
2 – Bebe’s Search
2 – Energy Search
2 – Pokemon Communicator
2 – Amulet Coin (Diamond & Pearl—Great Encounters)
1 – Rare Candy
1 – Poke Ball
1 – Bill’s Maintenance
1 – Warp Point
1 – Team Rocket’s Trickery
1 – Bucks Training
1 – Fisherman
1 – Prof Oaks New Theory
1 – Life Herb
1 – Underground Exped

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Illumise, Venusaur, Amulet Coin and Bill's Maintenance are all illegal in the current modified format, and you have too many random Trainers. From what you have now, there are two semi-competitive ways to go: You could try and build Leafeon + Roserade (Leafeon UD does 50 times the number of special conditions on the opponent, leafeon LV.X allows you to attach more energy to Roserade), or MukLock (Muk with a VileTomb trainer locking engine and some disruptive supporters to make it harder to get a Sludge Drag victim out of Active). Either way, a good basic trainer line for most decks would be:

3 Pokemon Collector
3/4 Bebe's Search
1 Luxury Ball
4 Pokemon Communication
0/3 Switch/Warp Point
1 Palmer's Contribution
Up to 6 in a combination of Rare Candy and Broken Time-Space, depending on the deck

Of course, you have to adapt the T/S/S to the deck, but most decks work with something like that. If you can get Uxies (Legends Awakened), throw them into the deck too, they are the best drawpower in the game right now.

And play less energy. Most competitive decks run 12-14 energies, there usually is no reason to play more if you have enough drawpower.

TL;DR: Try to get at least 2 uxies, remove the illegal cards from your deck, focus your trainer line and take out some energies.

Thanks for the input. The Leafeon Lv.X is a bit of a stretch ($$$ :p), but a the Leafeon (UD) works. The deck played decent today in league play with the change to Leafeon LV. X (proxy)/Muk/Rosrade. But decent means I didn't go 0 for 4 (1 for 4 matches). With the trainers listed, it still needed more draw power. I was at a loss for energy for a bunch of the matches. Uxie (set up) would be good though to get cards back in my hand for options. I did put in the Vileplume, with only slight success getting it into play.

What are some changes to the T/S/S or Pokemon to get into my deck more?

Unown R is cheap and helps your speed. Prof Oak's New Theory and Volkner's Philosophy are nice Drawpower, and both easy to get because they are uncommon. If you play a lot of energy, Engineer's Adjustments is one of the best draw supporters in the game. Pokedex handy 910 is a good addition to your t/s/s lines if you have room for it. And about your deck: I actually meant Muk + Vileplume and Roserade + Leafeon are both playable decks, there is a kind of combo, but running Leafeon, Roserade and Muk in one deck just takes too much space. Looks like you have 'Plume, so thats everything you need for MukLock; 2-2-2 VilePlume, 3/4 Spiritombs, 4-4 Muk and some draw support.
