OK, I have been a part of these forums for about a year and a half, a little more. Over the past year, I have noticed a SHARP increase in many n00bish behaviors. I would like to create this thread for a few reasons:

A) To point out what these behaviors are
B) To hopefully stop them

If I have forgotten any common ones, do please post, I am sure I will forget at least 1. If this belongs in a different forums, Mods please move it. Now... onto my main point. These common n00bish behaviors:

You know a member is a n00b when...

They run around the deck garage just to say 'ADD 2-2 CLAYDOL'.
This is stupid. Yes, I am aware if my deck does not have claydol in it. This is pretty sad when people go into the deck garage and tell people to add Claydol into something like a Legos deck, or Regigigas, or Charizard/Ninetails. As amazing as this sounds, there ARE decks that DO NOT NEED CLAYDOLS IN THEM. I even had one person tell me to add a 2-2 Claydol line when I already had them in there. -__- Please stop this behavior.

When they degrade somebody else's deck idea without a reason why
I have seen this numerous times in the deck garage. People run around saying 'That deck is bad,' or 'that deck looses to Gengar' or similar comments. This will be all that is included on the post. Please people, pretty pretty please give EVIDENCE as to why a deck is bad. Nobody likes to have their decks called bad. People do like CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM, where you tell them WHY a deck is bad, and what they could do better.

When they say a commonly used deck is easy to beat, or has no future.
This is happening right now. As amazing as this sounds, Gengar is playable. The Lv. X is out, making Spread variants pretty good, Cursegar w/ Mr. Mime/Spiritomb is great, and Shadow Room/Fainting Spell are.... Shadow Room/Fainting Spell. THis deck has a future, don't just say 'Gengar is bad, only scrubs would like this card.' Not every variant of one deck is bad. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean nobody else likes it, or that it's bad.

When people brag about how they did at tournaments, and think that this makes them better than everybody else.
You people know who you are. Just because you went to worlds in juniors or won a cities, or won States, or made T32 in nats DOES NOT make you the best player in the world. If you were the best player in the worlds, you would have WON WORLDS. So stop acting like it.

When you post in the 'Rate My Team' forum without knowing what you're doing, or even what a good EV Spread/Nature/Move set is.
Oh man. These are priceless. I even have a quote for this one.

I have one edit. For celebi, try leech seed instead of trick. It gives celebi that little needed HP to survive without leftovers.
^^^This was about my Celebi that was choice scarfed. Thank goodness The_Assassin was there to point this out, and dragonexpert helped with better advice. Oh, and then a few posts later, right after I just said Celebi was scarfed
another member said:
I'm a little bothered with Scizor. Running SD and then reducing it by using Superpower? That needs consideration. Psychic on Celebi? Why not use Recover? And, no Taunt on a lead Azelf? I'll do a full rate later on.
Please, just read a little bit higher up in the thread. That's all I ask.

Running around deck garage and saying 2-2 claydol is spam obviously. The deck rules thread state that you need to explain why you suggested something.

Degrading deck idea is either flaming and usually spamming because it doesn't help the deck either. Common sense bro.

When a deck has no future and the person didn't help the deck, then it's obviously spam, which is found in the deck garage rules too.

Plain bragging would also be considered spam especially if it didn't contribute to the thread. Acting like you're the best isn't against the rules. But when you actually have to prove how good you are then you'll be embarrassed.

There is a guideline on how to post in the RMT forum. It also includes rules on what to do and what not to do in the RMT forum which goes way more in depth than what you have got in this thread.

So pretty much, everything in this thread is somewhere on this forum. Putting it into one thread where it hardly goes into specifics is pointless.

Yeah, these rules are covered in Forum specific threads, but this was handy for a post I guess.

dmaster out.

The funny thing about this thread is the fact that you're not really dealing with forum n00bs here, just n00bs to competitive battling/TCG.

Also, for the last one, do you mean critiquing someone's team without knowing what you're doing, or posting a thread without knowing exactly what you're doing, but with a vague idea?

@Len: Yes, TECHNICALLY it is stated in the rules, however people will run around and they see the 'post why a person should change their deck, not just what to do' rule, and they assume that 'it's 2-2 claydol. I don't need to explain any more than that.' So they don't think they're breaking the rules, but they are.

@42: By that, I mean any of:
A. posting an idea that is easily not a good idea [EX leech seed on Choice Scarf]
B. posting 'help' without knowing why something else is good [so like somebody saying 'Use Scizor' without actually knowing why Scizor would help the team out.]

It is their fault if they don't read the rules of the Forum so they will most likely get warned or sent a PM.

dmaster out.

Your right. Stop the n00bs.

Everyone went through that faze. Your telling me you didn't? These things you covered aren't the only n00bish practice. I can rattle off a few more, one of them I tried to convince you NOT to do in your team. Just let the n00bs be n00bs, and hopefully they will evolve into non-n00bs.

There's some hypocrisy in this thread, but I do agree that this is the type of behavior that you have no choice but to let go and let newbies wise up for themselves. It's just a cycle, really; most of us have done these types of things in the past, and we've grown out of it.

A forum is basically just a community like a school, and there will always be the immature students, the awkward ones, arrogant ones and the downright rude ones. You can't change behaviors in these people in real life, they have to take it upon themselves to do so... so why do we think we can do it here? One can point out individual behaviors forever, but you can never stop them all.

...
Thanks MP. Thanks. Lol.

But those are spellin' errers'. They aint gona eefekt me. I was gwyn to change it anyways...

But I wasn't as focused on the spelling more as the second paragraph. So...

OP: Okay?

Who cares? If someone is behaving inappropriately then the post will be handled by a moderator. No sense in making this thread. The only reason I can possibly come up with for why you made this thread is either to get a sticky, or to call out people who didn't give you good advice. Either way, generally, if someone is not being helpful, their post should be reported for spam.

(also, "n00bish" is a very "n00bish" way of spelling that word)

Yeah, like dmaster and others have said, simply report the person if you find them to be breaking any rules. If you feel that won't be enough, PM a moderator and discuss it with them (but still report the post, of course). The moderator may be able to help the person understand why what they're doing is against the rules, or the moderator could give them tips on how to make their posts more in-line with the rules.
