Christmas Traditions

This thread isn't what you want for Christmas. There is already a thread for that. This a thread about what special traditions you, your family, and your friends do to celebrate Christmas and to promote the Chrsitmas spirit.

When I was younger, I used to hold a puppet show with my relatives and break a Piñata (even though I'm not mexican, lol) :D. We like to do a lot of traditions from other countries. On Christmas day, we hold a party and all of our relatives come over. :)

Feel free to share Christmas traditions mostly but other holiday traditions if you please.

PS. Today is the first day of snow. Except it all melted. :p

But I'd like to hear from you. Christmas is coming and it would be fun to share what everyone does to celebrate it.

Usually on Thanksgiving/Christmas, my mom and me go to a restaurant and eat. We always open up presents and watch the parade on Christmas too while eating chocolate truffles, which are rich chocolate balls with cocoa powder on it. I'm drooling right now and we haven't bought this year's supply yet. ;p

dmaster out.

That's cool. I don't have truffles very often but it's like they sink in your mouth with goodness. :p And spending time with your family on Christmas is always a nice thing. :)

I go to church at midnight, and then sit at home and wait for presents.

I'm still quite curious on how Christmas became a secular thing. You know, with those Santa Clauses (lol) and presents and Christmas trees etc.

Well , my family used to meet at my aunt's house on christmas day and open presents and stuff.
During christmas since the past 2-3 years , I go to starbuck's and get a peppermint Mocha (yum).
After thanksgiving , I always listen to christmas music from our local radio station and I always watch loads of christmas specials.
During New Years Eve , at midnight me and my parents always crack open a bottle of sparkling cider.
I also for the past 1-2 years was in the christmas plays at my Church , until I got too old to be in them , but man they were fun. (1st-6th grade)

My family still meets at my aunts house... but before or after Christmas...

In my house, we have a tree, and then a little mini tree... we put smaller presents under the little tree, and open them on Christmas Eve, and then open the others the next day.

Thanks for posting guys.
Last year there was a Christmas play at my church. I wasn't in it but it was fun to watch. We also used to have a mini-Christmas tree in my bedroom. I like the idea of going to church at midnight. Everything sounds so much fun. :p

And I'm not sure how Christmas became a secular thing, NN?
Celebrating the true meaning of Christmas is important and then having Santa Claus to give you all your gifts can both be enjoyed together. :)

Smoking weed grown from my Xmas tree is fun to do...Nah im kidding. I have better things to do that tho. Like hanging out with family opening pressies n stuff.

My family has very few Christmas traditions, and each year we're unable to find the time or money to do anything aside from stay at home, make a Christmas ham, and (rarely) drive around the area to look at the decorations on the other houses.

There's one thing that I hope we'll always do. On Christmas Day, everyone scurries around the house. My mom's busy arguing with my Aunt and Grandma on whether or not the turkey's done and if we need to cook it anymore, my Uncle raids our fridge and stuffs whatever he finds in bags and puts them in his pockets, thinking I don't know it, my dad sits around the TV watching really old really confusing movies with my grandpa who tries to look amused even though he's bored out of his mind, my other aunt sits in the corner crying about her husband canceling all her credit card accounts or messing around with her money in some way, my smaller cousins run around the house naked while my older ones are outside beating each other's brains out with a football.

But, by the end of the day, we sit at the huge dining room table, somehow set all our differences aside, say our prayers, and eat the turkey that Mom, my Aunt, and Grandmother made. Afterwards, we sit around the tree, open presents, I play a little piano to wrap up the evening, and everyone either heads out or goes to bed if they're staying with us for the holidays

Really my favorite part about christmas <3

At Cristmas Eve my mom gives us new pajamas and we open 1 present at the end of the day and I put up a Video Cam for Santa. Then on Cristmas Day me and my sister wake up early and wake upp my mom and her boyfriend. After that we go to ma Great Grandmas house for lunch. After that we go back to the house and play with the presents, then we go to my moms boyfriends moms and dads house.

At my house we go to my parents friends house and have dinner. We leave at like 12 and then go to bed. When I wake up we go down stairs and open presents then we go to my grandpa's house and all my relatives come and we stay till 3 and that's it.:D

I go to Lousiville where my family lives...and HAVE A GIANT HONEYBAKED HAM! MMMMM....

1. And open presents
2. Sleep over at my cousins
3. Play PS3
4. Burn effigies (jk.)
5. PLAY A MASSIVE game of tackle football (TOFU)

We always get ham and my mom's side of the family comes for a big Christmas Eve dinner with the best food made by my dad and for dessert, my mom's great cookies. There's also a possiblity of there being deviled eggs from my Grandma!
It is honeybaked ham!!!

Well, amist all of the havoc that occurs during pre-Christmas preparation, on Christmas day, everything is peaceful and you can defenitely feel the Christmas spirit. Thanks for posting everyone! I'm glad to hear what everyone is sharing. Christmas can be celebrated differently for all types of people. It's coming soon so it's time to have the Christmas spirit and meaning all over again. :)
