Pokemon Charizard's Type

Ok I have been through many threads and read over and over and over again. Many of them contain posts that say: Charizard is a Dragon type or my favourite Dragon Pokemon is Charizard or you forgot to include Charizard as a Dragon type Pokemon etc.

It may piss the experts off. (I am not an expert, btw.)

I know that in the anime, Ash's Charizard can learn Dragon Rage. But that does not mean that it is a Dragon type! Look at Gyrados. It can learn Dragon Rage too, but it is a Water/Flying type.

So, to prove that Charizard is not a Dragon type, and if you somehow cannot get to the Pokedex or see any online Pokemon databases or look at any Charizardδ and say "Oh, it is a Lightning/Steel type", etc, here are some facts that will definitely prove it is NOT a Dragon type.

1. Charizard is a final evolution of a starter Pokemon, Charmander.
Now we all know that Charmander is a Fire type, period.

2. Charizard has wings.
Now this may not prove much, but most Pokemon with wings are Flying types.

3. Charizard learns mainly Fire/Flying attacks.
Most Dragon Pokemon learn Fire type attacks by TM and not level-up.

So all those people who are unclear out there and think that Charizard is a Dragon type, or resembling a Dragon, IT'S NOT!

AND if some of you say Charizard resembles a dragon, remember that Charmander is a lizard...

Charizard is part dragon, not to be confused with a Dragon-type Pokémon. Charizard has been Fire/Flying since the beginning of time, and so it shall remain.

You'd think that with Charizard's huge fanbase, no one would ever think he is Dragon in type.

Your points also don't prove anything:

1. Yeah, Charmander is Fire. So what? I don't see what Charmander has to do with anything... Charizard could be Fire/Dragon for all we know.

2. You said yourself this is a weak argument. Dragonite, Altaria, Salamence... Lati@s... Kingdra? All have wings.

3. Charizard learns a whopping four Fire-type moves and one Flying-type move as it levels up (in advance generation games, Charizard gets one more of each type in D/P... I think). The rest are Normal, and then there's Dragon Rage.

Other than Charizard and Gyarados, Dragon Rage is only learned by Dragon-type Pokémon, so it's really not that stupid of an argument for someone who's never seen Charizard before to see the fire breath, the large wings, and the move Dragon Rage, and think he is a Dragon-type Pokémon.

Charmander is a lizard, but Charizard is, in fact, a dragon. At least, he's based on one. Check out AstralFire's Legendary Pokemon Guide. There, you can find more about the dragon-y aspects of Charizard.

We all wish Charizard was Fire/Dragon... but it'll never happen.

Last time i checked,Dragons could have no wings, look like a lizard, & breathe fire(i would think that he could be classified as a Dragon)

At least he as wings...Charizard is a Dragon in body & in spirit, but not in type, but that still can't mean that he isnt a dragon;)

i think that the creators wanted a Dragon starter, just not 1 which was too powerful,so they changed its type From Fire/Dragon to Fire/Flying & same goes for Gyarados IMO;)

charizard is fire/flying.
if you dont belive go call onix a dragon/fire type.
because onix can learn flamethrower and dragon rage

Charizard looks like a dragon....I think that's why most people get confused. I think it is a dragon in body-shape but it is obviously a fire/flying type. Check the link below for proof-

WTF?! Gyarados is Type Dragon/Flying!
BTw, charizard(Charlie XD) looks like a dragon, but it's not...all adults may say "look! there's a big scary dragon", and the may be right, because it has a dragon's body, but if it's type was fire/dragon it would be too powerful! so, that's why they changed it's type to fie/flying.

No, gyarados is water/flying type. Its not a dragon type. It's like a case similar to charizard. Gyarados looks so much like a Japanese dragon that people get confused about its type. But it is in fact a water/flying type pokemon!
