That's actually what I thought too, I thought February was Winter but I was told otherwise....and it makes sense when I think about it. There are three months to a season:
Spring: February, March, April
Summer: May, June, July
Autumn/Fall: August, September, October
Winter: November, December, January
This is actually the way I remember it. At least it's what the seasons are considered in my part of the world.

Something along the lines of, Spring traditionally starts between 2nd and 7th of February.
It seems very hazy and ambiguous, so we should be prepared for anything. Different parts of the world consider different season times...
