Episode #38-Electric Soldier Porygon
Why it was banned:
This episode was banned because about 20 minutes into the episode, Pikachu launched an attack at some vaccine missiles. The explosion had flashing red and blue lights, and intense strobe effects, causing epilectic seizures in over 700 Japanese children. It was banned worldwide. 4Kids did, in fact, dub this episode, reducing the speed and intensity of the flashing lights, but it was never aired.
Why I want it back:
1. I want to see it in English.
2. The seizure-inducing version should not be the only footage on the internet. >:[
Episode #35-The legend of Dratini
Why it was banned:
This episode was banned because of the usage of guns.
Why I want it back:
1. This absence of this episode created a major plothole, as Ash caught thirty Tauros in it and used them later, but it was never explained how he caught them.
2. I want to see it in English.
Episode #18-Beauty and the Beach
Why it was banned:
Umm... I don't know if I'm alowed to say why on here... lolz just look it up on Bulbapedia or something.
Why I want it back:
1. I want to see it in English.
2. Umm.... I dunno. :p
Episode #?-Battle of the Quaking Island!
Why it was banned:
this episode was skipped due to the episode's similarities to the Chūetsu earthquake on October 23, 2004.
Why I want it back:
1. I want to see it in English
2. I dunno...

And then there's the "Ice Cave" episode, featuring the controversial Pokemon Jynx. I don't really care if it's back or not though.

Why do you want these episodes back? Or why don't you want them back?

I saw "The legend of Dratini" on YouTube about a year ago and it had subtitles. I don't understand why they banned this one. I didn't think it was violent at all.

Lol...they were banned for a reason, and odds are, they won't be back because their seasons have long since passed.

dmaster out.

I know that, but still this thread is hilarious because of the irony.

dmaster out.

Wait wasnt there another banned one with tentacruel and tentacool in it? The reason why they banned that one is because it had guns.

Is this the one that you are talking of?

No. Its not the legand of Dratini. hold on ill find the title.

Ok i found it! Here is the summary i found!

Tentacool and Tentacruel"
The first episode to be banned after the September 11, 2001 attacks, mainly because the censors noted similarities between the attacks and the Tentacruel destroying the city. The character Nastina also used large-bore assault weapons during the fight scenes in the episode. However, Tentacruel striking a building was not removed from the opening theme

Not just girls. :F *cough*James*cough*

Also, the Tentacool & Tentacruel one can still be found on VHS and DVD, so it's not like it's not available at all (from something that is not the internet) in the U.S...

Gross!
And I now which one SS! was talking about, I saw it when I was little.

Yeah, I got that episode on my DVD box set of the first season.
They're probably just not allowed to show it on TV anymore, maybe.

Lol, I have it on VHS, I never knew it was banned.:p

I don't think that Jynx having bblack skin was racist. If they were being segregational to jynx, i would understand, but it wasn't.

I would like to see these episodes. If you search long and hard you can find them in English but you have to pay to watch them I think.:)

Why don't you guys just youtube these episodes? I have literally watched the porygon one in the dark, on full screen and it didn't effect me at all. So seriously why was it banned if someone can with stand it. Maybe child inappropriate. Possibly tone down the lighting IDK but this should have aired.

C88 You do not realize the seriousness of a seizure. With over 800 people affected. That is enough to ban that episode. Depending on the person Flashing lights can cause someone to have a major problem or even die. I suggest you look up the word so you understand what they can do. They banned this episode for a good reason. It may seem not true but seizures are very serious and it hurt those people badly. When something bad happens to Japanese people it scares them beyond words so it was best to cancel Pokemon altogether for a short period of time. When they cancelled it here it was cancelled for about 4 months and continued with episode #39. It was a big impact there and they don't want that again and it was banned for that reason. Seizures are a very serious problem. They can't be cured and sometimes can be stopped with medication but rarely. In my case they took 1/4 of my brain and then they started again after 9 years but that is beside the point. It was hard on them so to prevent any further problems for everyone they cancelled the episode and the production of the episode. People are sometimes affected by flashing lights or even if they looked at a bright light then a seizure would start. I used to know someone in high school that was in a wheelchair because she was paralyzed from the waist down and had to wear a bike helmet all the time because if she looked at the florecent lights in the school she would have very bad seizures. I hope you understand now why they cancelled the episode. If you want to watch them that is fine but the majority of the population who can't watch that episode had bad seizures and it did enough to cancel the episode. If they had aired this episode Pokemon Game freak would have had to pay a hefty fine so at the time they did what was right and they cancelled it to avoid trouble of any kind. It was a pretty big bolt of lightening anyway and yes it was enough to cause a person serious harm. Take into consideration of how many affected and how serious a seizure can be. Mine are mild but they can be so severe that they can do serious harm to a person. Please look it up sometime because seizures are much more serious than you think.:)
