azelf x in lostgar

@ErradicaSean - actually that strategy is included in a legend engine but i havent tried it yet. but the situation with electrode prime is still suitable along with junk arm and energy engine is set.

@aburame - oh i see 14 energies seems okay is it standard in this build or it depends?

@pokemon24/7 - your suggestion seems clunky IMO. it will take atleast 2 turns to set that up besides your using PGX which will mean that you need it to be active, discard energies so jirachi can work but its still a double edged situation cuz of flippy effects

@pokemon24/7 - yep but i guess not everyone likes it. though jirachi is also included in some build

@ErradicaSean - nothing more? i mean no rescue energy? and just seven only? how does this stand?

I play one Rescue. It seems to work for it. I don't really have a problem getting energies when I need them.

I've play-tested it against Gyarados and LuxChomp decks, as well as others, and the only loss was when I got donked because SOMEHOW(I play enough basics to where this should hardly ever be a problem) I only had one low hp basic through my first turn against LuxChomp. I've noticed it pretty much cripples Gyarados(I get 1+ Magikarp in the Lost Zone every game). LuxChomp is more of a match but my deck consistently outspeeds it as well.

I'm happy with it for now. It might get tweaked before Regionals, though. We'll see.

@Aishen: The gengar prime/electrode deck don't have any "standard" yet because i made it (first player of it) and only played 2/3 games with it so i'm still building on it, bit by bit. But i think 14 energy is a good amount so far.

ErradicaSean - from what i heard 2 is the standard of rescue energy but thats me. mind to share how do you speed up your energy attachment?

aburame yuki - what i mean is the energy count not the gengar/electrode. =p well anyway hows it by the way?

My deck isn't fast because of increased speed of attaching energy. It's fast because I have so much drawing power and techs to toss Pokemon in the lost zone while I build up my Gengar.

I actually have won games rather easily without ever even putting down a single Gengar. The decks I were playing were really bad match-ups against LostGar, though.

I also just recently took out my Rescue Energy. So, now it's just 7 Psychic and nothing else as far as energy. I put in some other stuff to make my deck a little bit faster against SP decks.

how is it that you can win even without putting down a single gengar? any second attacker?

I'll go back to the actual topic. IMO, Azelf isn't worth it. The best Dark counter to LostGar is IMO Umbreon UD. Just avoid having Pokes in your hand and it's a very fast, moderately powerful check, and Azelf wouldn't change much to change that.

The rest of the Pokemon in my deck are techs except the 2 Mime Jrs I run. I combo them with my other techs when I can't get out a Gengar on my first or second turn. I wouldn't ever suggest running anymore than that if you were to throw him in though. Sacrificing him for 1 Pokemon in the lost zone and also getting twins going is one thing, but usually after my first one goes I don't ever put out the second one. It just puts you in too big of a hole against SP decks with all of their speed.

But to answer your question, Mime Jr is my only other attacker. Although, the other day I donked my friend's LuxChomp with Azelf on my first turn.(his only basic was Unown Q) lol

@ 6-D - how is umbreon able to do that?

@ ErradicaSean - i see mime jr. thanks for the info
