Gengar's Shadow Room: Put 3 damage counters on 1 of your opponent's Pokemon. If that Pokemon has any Poke-Powers, put 6 damage counters on that Pokemon instead.

Armaldo's Body: If Armaldo would be damaged by an attack, prevent that attack's damage done to Armaldo if that damage is 60 or less.

My question is can I use Gengar's Shadow Room to snipe an Armaldo for 30? Shadow Room puts 3 damage counters on Armaldo, not 30 damage. So would Shadow Room bypass Armaldo's Body or not?

I probably just answered my own question but I just want to make sure...

Putting damage counters is considered an effect of an attack. This is why Armaldo can't stop it - he only stops direct damage.

Alright, but what about damage counters and weaknesses and resistances? Are they not calculated when you're placing damage counters instead of damage? Or does the attack have to say not to apply them?

Placing damage counter and direct damage are 2 totally different things.

Direct damage is calculated when doing damage while Placing damage counter is NOT calculated in weakness or resistance
