Hey everyone! This is the official discussion thread for Animal Crossing 3DS. Now while details on the game are scarce as of now, we do know that you will be portraying the mayor of the town. The graphics are looking great, and we are finally getting a new, more fresh, and updated feel for the Animal Crossing series. So discuss and speculate!

My speculations/hopes and dreams: That along with the (hopefully) much larger collection of furniture, clothes, stationary, ect, that Animal Crossing 3DS has more of that 'city' feel with restaurants, more stores, ect. Also, I hope that there is more to the storyline with more side games/storylines. And possibly expand the city, what characters can say, how your house can look, ect.

Discuss!

Mmkay, I'm just going to quote my posts from the video game discussion thread; there's no way I want to type it all again.

What AC 3DS screens have you been looking at? Every screen I've seen looks way better than any other AC, the trees are redesigned, the character models are redesigned, everything is ;o

The screens are also promising (or at least suggesting) innovation. Notice the bench and lamppost combo in one, the seemingly customizable pants in one, the beach NOT to the south in another... See for yourself -

Everything looks so lovely.... The ground and trees are beautiful looking :> Also, tree shadows are a very nice touch; I hope they move as the sun moves (I'm pretty sure they will). The updated graphics really make it look so much more peaceful and scenic (see bench-lamppost screen for evidence) <3
Well I thought there was more, but that was the only one.

Anyhow, I looove how they're innovating things (apparently), as explained in my quoted post. And I had forgotten about the mayor thing. That's going to add a great new mechanic to the game for sure, and a brand new way to interact with the town.

Anyhow, just some more thoughts -

1) Music - Wild World had great music and all, but you can't blame me for a being a little disappointed when I played City Folk and heard the exact same music for every hour and every area. I mean, why on earth did they just port the music? It probably had something to do with a production deadline and being unable to get new music in time. I really think City Folk had a bad production deadline, because so much of it feels unfinished. I mean, the animals hardly have any variety in what they say. In Wild World, you could literally talk to them for nearly an hour and still get them to say new things. Why on earth would they take this out? Also, the graphics were nothing more than a touched up version of previous versions, hardly utilizing the Wii's capabilities. And the city? All it was was a collection of things that were already in game, except the auction house (which is virtually useless anyway). Don't get me wrong, I love playing City Folk, I just feel that they could've done so much more... Good thing AC 3DS is showing such innovative promise!

Anyway, I would like new music this time.

2) City - As I explained in my going-off-on-a-tangent above, the city was disappointing in CF. Thus, I really don't even care if a city is in this game or not. If it is, make it actually something new and interesting (aside from visually). If it's not, take what would've been used for it and integrate into the town!

Er, I'll add more if I remember later, in a new post. But anyway, can't wait for this game!

Sinnohtrainer, I also hope there's more side-character backstory things. I loved finding those on WW :>

Thanks for your input! I agree on everything you have said completely. I find it pretty easy to get bored of the city in CF. I really hope they add some new stores/restaurant/ect. IMO, I wish that they would combine the town and city area. I find it annoying that the city and village are seperated by a bus ride -__- I would also have to agree on how some of the features of the city are pretty much useless (ex: auction house and theater = -__-) But yes, the graphics are looking fantastic so far and I am very excited for this game!

Yup, and that's another thing City Folk lacked - new NPCs. Wild World added a ton... but City Folk added like 1 or 2, maybe. So I hope with new features and stores or whatever, they add new characters :<

And what you said about city combined with town... Perhaps something along the lines of a town square, a central plaza of some sort? Of course, the towns would have to be really big to accommodate this area as well as standard town area, but I don't think that'd be a bad thing ;D

I'm really interested in the mayor feature. I wonder how you get there. Surely you don't just start as mayor? So would the mayor thing only be available after you've done a bunch of things (like pay your debts, stay for a while, etc)? I must know more D:

Also, I wonder what you do as mayor, what kind of decisions you make and all. 'Cause you're probably not gonna just sleep in Town Hall all year, like a certain mayor before you ;p
