I know all about the promo and the 6 + 2 packs that you get for participating, but do these events actually have prizes for placing? Sorry if it's a n00bish question, but this will be my first sanctioned event.

there are no prizes for the sealed tournament, which is where you get the promo card, and 8 packs...however, most times a booster draft tournament is held after the sealed, in which you pay about $20 get 5 packs to draft from, along with other players, and depending on the turnout of the booster draft, that determines how much prize support you get
