Hey everyone, first post on the forum.
I bought a 1st edition Holo Dark Charizard on ebay. Everything on the card looks legit to me (the foil, the 1st edition stamp, the font of the text, the black line that separates the border on the back...) but half of the card is discolored on the back. As you can see the color of "Pokémon" is closer to white than yellow and the blue is really light. The other half of the card looks normal. First time I see a card like this.
Is it a fake, a discoloration caused by light/heat/sunlight (Hard to believe since the card is in mint condition and was stored in a hard cover since day 1 according to the seller...), or just some kind of misprint ?

I don't see any obvious signs of a fake, so I'm with you there. Whether or not it's a misprint, though, is harder to say. To me, it appears more like a non-factory discoloration, such as being left in the sunlight. I've also seen discoloration caused by prolonged exposure to non-PVC-free sleeves, though that usually causes a greenish tint rather than faded colors.

Honestly, even if it truly is a factory misprint, it isn't the valuable kind: if this card were to be graded, it would likely lose points due to the discoloration since it's not distinguishable from handler error.

Alright thanks for your feedback :) I bought it for 15 euros and it's in almost mint condition except the discoloration so it's still a fair deal I guess, a bit below the average value.
