Read where I said locally. I would have had to travel a minimum of 4 hours to see any of the other theatrical releases in the US. Not what I consider local.

Maine State Champion? That far from Portland? Are you from The County? :)

I actually live in Michigan at the moment and had the last time I saw a Pokemon theatrical release (long story). Though I did live in the most northern part of The County when I was in Maine.. If I was going to go to Portland it would have been a, I believe six to six and a half hour drive.

Though from what I heard, they actually played the fourth and fifth movies in theaters there (Pokemon is irrationally popular in that small area). The sixth I doubt, since they leveled the big Multiplex Cinema for a parking lot.. As you can tell my movie going options were quite limited in Maine at the time... Heck.. The theater didn't even get the Da Vinci Code.. I highly doubt they would have got Pokemon 11 if it hit cinemas in the US.

Bringing back Pokemon to the box office again would greatly increase the chance of keeping old fans like me still with it.

I also want to note when the kid from Fried Dynamite messed up and said Rise of Darkrai was going to return to theaters? There was so much hype around it. Everyone wants Pokemon USA to return it to theaters and hopefully they see that that's what the fans want.

Say, I'd like to know where it was discovered that Ponyo is going to get a wide theatrical release. Disney certainly has the ability to do it, but I've never heard of anything but a limited release for any previous Miyazaki film, if there was to be a theatrical release at all. No theater I've ever visited has ever shown any Miyazaki film (not even Spirited Away or Howl's Moving Castle), and sales seem to come entirely through DVDs. I don't see why Ponyo will be any different, as even these movies are rarely ever mentioned or tossed off as fodder for children among the mainstream. Disney keeps these things in limited release because it knows that the fact that Miyazaki is animated, G-rated, and most of all, foreign, means few people will care about it.

The concept of anime to people is still extremely misunderstood. Suffice to say that "violent porn cartoons" is not a big exaggeration. (The link is perfectly work-safe.)

I'd like to find that a Miyazaki film is finally getting a wide release, which would mean that Disney thinks it's safe to come out now, but the Naruto Age seems like an odd time.

"It doesn't seem like we give them the respect they deserve here in America."

Hello? HELLO? Have you ever even THOUGHT o fthe UK? Or anywhere else? The USA isnt the only place on Earth! We havent had a Pokémon Movie for 2 years now, and that was Jirachi Wishmaker!!! If anything, there should be a petition for Nintendo to care about the EU again.
