“Pokemon Card Game MEGA” Trademarked, Goodbye “Scarlet & Violet!”

SV might be going away, but that doesn't mean it'll change drastically regarding the card templates. Just look at Mega Gardevoir ex, it uses the same layout as your regular run-in-the-mill ex cards. Remember, XY uses BW card template, until the end of the said era.

It’s actually kind of interesting how this approach to gradual design evolution reminds me of UI changes in digital platforms — including things like online casinos. Some platforms totally overhaul their visuals, while others maintain consistent layouts for player familiarity, especially in real money games. I ended up checking out a https://icasinoreviews.co.nz/casino-kingdom/ recently that breaks down how different casinos handle these transitions, bonus mechanics, and interface updates over time. The parallel with TCG design is weirdly satisfying: keep the core experience consistent, but refine it strategically.
That's a great point - people tend to overestimate how drastically the layout or design shifts between generations. Like you said, even when we moved from BW to XY, the card template stayed pretty consistent for a while. Mega Evolutions still followed the regular EX style, and you can see that same design logic with Kyurem here.

The SV era might wrap up soon, but unless there's a huge mechanic overhaul, I wouldn't expect a total redesign either. It's more about subtle tweaks than full resets - just like how they kept the EX layout going into different card lines (even across sub-series). Makes the transition feel smoother and keeps older cards visually relevant too.
