Only thing I really hate, why is lillie a straight up powercreep on Cynthia? Like isn't cynthias effect strong enough these days?

Trainer cards don't really power creep in the traditional sense since after each rotation trainers can either be replaced with higher or lower powered cards much easier than Pokemon (see: all the Items that rotated from D block). There's still plenty of time for Research to be reprinted with an updated regulation mark and shuffle draw 6 is often considered just worse than discard draw 7 (see, Professor Oak's New Theory vs Professor Juniper)

Fullart items are pretty nice i cant lie, gold cards are kinda ugly imo so this is appreciated.

New ralts and kirlia are pretty nice upgrades to the current gardy list, but that stadium especially is disgusting. Even as someone who plays gardy I dont really get why they seem so committed to keeping it the best deck in the room.

Latias luckily seems pretty bad because a good 3 prize basic is terrifying. Wally is a supporter but healing 300 off a single card sounds disgusting. If research really is rotating, lillie is a pretty easy replacement which also implies their problem with the card was that it discarded and not because it draws a ton at once???

Venusaur is weird because its attack is obviously terrible but it just might be able to become unkillable enough for that to not matter.

Uninori art latios is beautiful though. Probably my favorite ptcg artist atm.

i noticed i said stage 4 and not stage 3, but thats effectively what a mega stage would be, regardless of what name you give it. Mega stages worked before because they evolved from fully evolved basics, but gardevoir for example would still have 4 different cards to go through, which doesn’t exactly sound like a fun mechanic.

I mean, it worked for Lv. X, which might as well be Mega Evolution in the TCG a couple generations early. The game is of course very different than it was back then, but there were plenty of Stage 2 Lv. X cards that saw play.

What bothers me is they actually could've had mega ex's evolve from the base form, just have it evolve into like stage "Mega" or something. That'd make these much more balanced too, but hey, what do i know

Lillie's Determination is actually pretty insane: Cynthia was played, and early game draw 8 is pretty indispensable!

I think a stage 4 would have been very exhausting honestly. That venu would probably have near 500 hp as well to make up for it

We all went through years of "stage 3" pokemon like BREAKs and Lv. Xs, so its absolutely possible to make the TCG adaptation of Megas more faithful.

Of course we can talk all day about how we would do it and balancing, blah blah blah but let's not pretend there aren't an infinite number of better design decisions than "aight let's just make these things 3 prizes."

I don't think it's that bad, with Ogerpon and the Bug Catching set you can probably get it set up with enough efficiency. All it needs is a good way of healing, I'm not sure about Wally, but as long as it can tank hits and heal well enough it definitely does not seem that terrible.

That's possible but never put it in play against Gardevoir. With Lillie's Clefairy ex that's super easy 3 prizes

i mean latias didnt get a mega in the XY era, and latios has almost always taken front over latias in both competitive play and chase cards

I'm so happy they gave Mega Venusaur another card, I don't think Venusaur gets enough love, so that's very nice to see. It's definitely my favorite of the 3.
