“Inferno X” Set to Release in September, Indeed Features Mega Charizard!

I feel like it could be like a Scarlet/Violet version of Crown Zenith, since Crown Zentih technically didn’t have the “Sword/Shield” label on them. If that ends up being the case then it could be a mish mash of Mega’s, Trainers Pokemon and random cards from SV, maybe giving some cards that didn’t get the IR/SIR treatment some love?

Personally, I hope it’s just some off the wall set that nobody’s expecting. Like a “Legendary Starters” type of set that gives love to every starter and legendary Pokemon from each generation. I think that would be really unique and very well received.

For me someone who despises Charizard with all their being, I feel like people see regular Charizard how I see the Y mega. Actually good proportions, good color scheme, striking silhouette, emphasis on its flying type, just slick period. And yeah X is cool but damn does it really feel to me they were following a 5 year old's instructions on how to design it

It would be idiotic for them to stop something as successful as the full art cards are. Even if they do change the term "SIR" they'll just replace it with a different name. Full art cards aren't going anywhere.
 
Hey folks, I’m new here but why release Charizard X but not Charizard Y? Has there been one without the other previously? The Y variant looks way cooler than the X one imo
 
I feel hopeful that if we are getting mega pokemon in these sets, that we would finally get another Mudkip line of cards (since fusion strike), cause of Mega Swampert, then hopefully they release illustration art cards of mudkip too...

I wouldn't read too much into Crown Zenith's naming; that was just how all special sets were before Scarlet and Violet.

If you want to read way too much into something:
Look at the lack of new art on the Destined Rivals prerelease promos, tell yourself it's because they're skipping a special set this year to give the western release schedule breathing room for unified product releases for the 30th anniversary, and then be sad when that doesn't actually happen.

The last part doesn't make much sense because we've had multiple pre-release promo artworks that were never released elsewhere, they aren't always sourced from the High Class Set. The reason why they decided to not comission any new artwork for the DRI promos is a mistery.

I would think that they would give us kind of a "Best of SV" set this year and then focus solely on the Mega era for next year's set since it will only be a 1-1/2-year era.

This is kind of what I’m inclined to believe. By the time this holiday set drops, we’re going to have what? One Mega set in English? Three in Japanese? And chances are those sets aren’t going to include any of the new Megas so it just makes no sense for this holiday set to focus on it. I guess they could make a cameo in this years holiday set, but the Mega specialty set will be next year.

I just think a SV celebration set makes the most sense. I highly doubt Pokemon would just skip out on one entirely, seeing as the last 3 are highly considered some of the best sets in the modern era. Plus, there’s still a huge catalog of very popular Pokemon who haven’t gotten SIR’s yet in SV. Gengar, Aegislash, Darkrai, Mimikyu, Decidueye, Lugia, Kyogre? There’s still a lot of untapped potential in this era IMO.

Definitely makes sense to not include megas and even more so since they dont take into account last 2 sets (mostly) for the high class set. But yeah for the thematic of it honestly hard to say until they drop a trademark, which hopefully isnt too far away. Even with the BW set happening I still hope they include a bunch of IRs this time around.
