Mega Dragonite and New “Legends: Z-A” Characters and Features Revealed!

Absolute banger designs for all the trainers. Going to be some really nice SARs…

Also M Dragonite looks good/very fitting considering his original design? I think people are just disappointed it doesn’t look closer to the more edgy fan arts done over the years.
100% lol a lot of Pokémon fans would be a lot happier playing Digimon since they’re so worried about Pokémon looking “cool”!

That's bullshit. Liking "cooler", "edgier" designs is perfectly valid, so much so...that Pokémon themselves...design lots of 'em that way. Should I say a lot of Pokémon fans would be a lot happier playing a My Little Pony game since they're so worried about Pokémon being "cute"? Get out of here...

You need to learn about the inspiration.
The wings on its head should be more to the side and should look more like the ones on its ankles. The larger wings should be on its back. They need to steer away from adding gigantic nonsense on their heads. Terastallization could have been done so much better and should not be used as an indication that people like giant hats.

I love the mega dragonite, I see some people hating on it, but when megas first came out a lot of hate was given to them. I know someone who absolutely hated the mega mewtwos, now he loves them.
Sorry but gen 1 is the most popular and most recognizable gen which is why they always circle back to it. Even as someone who grew up with Pokemon from the beginning, it's not my favorite gen but I understand why they keep popping up

Mega Dragonite is certainly not my favorite Mega, but it's far from awful...like most designs, I'm sure it will continue to grow on me as it already has. Few Megas get drastic overhauls to their design, so to expect anything major was setting yourself up for disappointment. Would like to see a render in the traditional art style.

So you are stuck in 1 city for the entire game. And Alpha Pokémon return.
Mega Metagross is better design for pseudo legendary Mega.

Can I cancel and get a refund for my pre order?
I wonder when pokémon """""fans""""" will realize there are more than 1 or 2 aspect to any given piece of media....

Dragonite always looked like an orange Barney with wings. It was cool but also not, so this mega seems fitting. Dragonite is a derpy, friendly dragon, nothing too serious (just don’t anger it).

I still think the theory that Dratini and Dragonair were part of something different before Dragonite still stands true, design wise especially.
I'm quite happy with mega dragonite and happy for his fans but I'll always stand on my belief that they should just give Dragonair a female split evo. So, so many recent cross-gen Pokemon have been answers to longtime fan criticisms of old Pokemon. Why shouldn't we get a beautiful, c*nty Dragonair evolution?

The tera hats are boring, but the wings here have a purpose. And let's not be like they regularly do gigantic stuff on the head. Plus it fits dragonite pretty well, it's kind of a goofy design to begin with.

That being said, they made a more realistic version of charizard with charizard y, which has big wings. So who knows if they did the same here, could have been interesting.

Dragonite was never meant to be goofy relative to any other Pokemon. Pokemon in general are like that to appeal to the younger demographic. People just went along with that idea. It's the ace of one of the strongest trainers in the lore, Lance, the Champion of the Johto region. If Lance was not that serious of a trainer, I'd agree that this Mega Dragonite would fit, but he's not, and it doesn't. Mega Dragonite should have gotten similar treatment as Mega Garchomp, Cynthia's ace, or even Mega Metagross, Steven's ace.

Dragonite is goofy, and certain pokémon are much more realistic to appeal to a wider audience. Focusing on the younger one is limiting. But this is also gen 1 where they were just starting out so it's far from being as fleshed out in their intent as it is in the latest gens. And I don't see the link with those trainers, these are just npcs.

So, just ignore a big part of the franchise, the trainers? Gen 6's Goodra is the only other pseudo legendary that is goofy looking, but even though Diantha, Kalos's Champion, has one, it's not her ace because she's synonymous with Mega Gardevoir. Like it or not, they keep both Pokemon and trainers in mind when designing each, and they should, at least for the more powerful and well known ones.

Lance most likely is not going to be in Z-A and will never be shown having Mega Dragonite so I'm not really seeing the correlation here.

Also, the very games where Lance became the Champion are also the same games that made Dragonite's sprites significantly cuter than they were in Gen 1. Crystal even had a goofy foot waggle in the animation.

They could easily throw him randomly into the post game like they did Cynthia previously. I'll settle with the idea that they poorly chose Dragonite as Lance's ace. Dragon master with a cape and everything, looked up to by Clair, having 3 "goofy" Dragonites. Smh

Sometimes trainers mirror a theme or pokemon, but I wouldn't go as far as to say they're designed in conjunction, it'd remove from the pokemon's identity. Trainers take after pokemon instead.

Aside from the very obvious one like ash Greninja.
