Extradimensional Crisis has been announced as the next set for Pokemon TCG Pocket. It will release on May 29th. It's labeled A3a and will feature over 100 cards like Shining Revelry.

The set will feature the Ultra Beasts, who have not been in the main TCG since the Sun & Moon era. They will have the same "Ultra Beast" mechanic label as before, which will allow them to be targeted by certain effects.

Now that water is fully kitted out with support to no avail time to shove poisons nose in the mud of too much support. Only 1 retreat is not bad either Clodsire keeps winning

From a flavor perspective and as someone who likes to make themed binder collections, I love that Ultra Beasts and presumably Ancient & Future Pokemon will keep their label mechanic forever and it wasn't just a one-generation thing (at least in Pocket). Helps them feel like their own distinct subclass of Pokemon like how Fossils have always had their own thing in the TCG even if they can never settle on what thing should be.

Obviously they couldn't translate the Prize card gimmick to TCG Pocket, but I'm glad it's there in spirit with Lusamine activating after the opponent takes a point. A pseudo-Beast Ring of sorts.

What's kind of depressing is that in the real TCG the Ultra Beasts actually did a ton of fun things with prize cards. In Pocket there's now Lusamine - great that she's tied to Ultra Beasts, but she's another boring acceleration card that powers your deck for you.

I hate ultra beasts. My ex husband looked a lot like Guzzlord.

It was actually his nickname, but not because of the pokemon. Because of something else that I won't reveal here.

I miss him.

I can see Nihilego work for a few Poison decks but Fire still has yet to get a better basic ex aside from Moltres who is purely an accelerator. Water is also having a difficult time with only having Irida as the truly consistent supporter and Misty failing 50% of the time. Articuno ex relies on a fast setup of Greninja to spread damage out more.

Grass has had enough pampering imo, it just got the best tool it could ask for and it makes Venusaur ex stupid bulky, and it has multiple accelerators.

I am very impressed with how frequently DeNA has been releasing sets for TCGP. As a TCGP player, it is a little overwhelming to keep up with all the cards (like getting most of them). At the same time though, I think DeNA is doing what they probably need to do in order to keep everyone’s attention. Especially with free to play games (technically, TCGP is free to play), developers can’t go too slow with updates and new content. If they go too slow, they’ll ultimately risk losing their audience.

Grass types are probably extremely horrible now since SR zard and incineroar are extremely common, and they hit extremely hard, hence Venusaur is not the best and now Celebi is deep in the gutter.

Water has Manaphy, aka one of the best energy accelerators that exist in the game.

Fire has a lot to use, with SR zard and incineroar being the best with no need for moltres ex, and they can both make use of Lillie as well.

Electric has fallen off though…Best electric of now is probably alola raichu which is horrible and then we have this little oricorio just carrying it

Psychic also has many helps with Giratina, Tapu lele

Dark has darkrai/weavile/clodsire/grafarai and Nihilego is a good support for clod decks

Fighting is still quite mid

Colourless is horrible

Dragon…this ultra necrozma does nothing
